Pools only tournament

Renaissance Fencing Club, August 12, 2006, Pools Only Tournament.
All events are mixed, the close of registration:
10:00 am Epee
11:30 am Saber
12:30 pm Foil

Just like the good ole days, all pools, lots-o-fencing to be had. I.E. (24 people): 1st round, 4 pools of 6; 2nd round, 3 pools of 6; 3rd round, 2 pools of 6; finals 1 pool of 6. If you make it to the final round, you will have fenced 20 bouts. Where as if you just did 1 seating and then a tableau, you would have fence at most 9 bouts (5 5-touch bouts, 4 15-touch bouts).

That's a good idea too. I just thought I'd go more old school, than the NCAA way. You can make a good argument for using either format.

Totally off subject:
I remember going to Billerica to go to the McDonalds, because Burlington didn't have one. That's before Burlington converted their mall into their huge mall that's there now (so I heard, never seen it). Thanks for the memories...

We didn't have much of a turn out so we ran the tournament they way you suggested. Basically, I seeded the tournament in 6 person pools, then cut the pools in half so I ended up with a bunch of 3 person 'teams', all 'teams' had to fence each other in 5 touch format. It was easier than I thought it would be.

Thanks for the suggestion.
