Array Rune Scape Try the following link: http://www.runescape.com/
It is a free role playing game. The purpose of tactic is to conquer the enemy with proper war movements and actions.

Array If you're willing to pay, WoW would be a better choice. The graphics in this game are... crude. -
The creators of Rune Scape, lacking any grammatical apptitude, misplaced the space in Rune Scape when it should have been "Run Escape". The game's graphics and interface are mediocre, the combat system bland mainly revolving around snaring and shooting and eating from time to time. It's really quite dull, and doesn't have any of the vitality many other MMOs have. If you play it for free all the more to you but I'd go ahead and ditch the Java runescape, and download Silkroad, which atleast attmempts to be somewhat intresting.
The community on Runescape seems quite unintelligent, belligerent, and all together rude.
I think MMOs are killing the video game industry, and arn't that fun, and that is why I avoid them whenever possible, but that's for another thread....
Just run escape from runescape and perhaps you'll last long enough until I actually decide to post it. -

Array I played this maybe once or twice about 6 years ago, and it was pretty boring. My little brother got into it a while ago and it looked pretty much the same. However, I have recently started playing a game called Time Hunter which in which I have seen a total of 5 images (5th one seen today!) so I guess I can't really judge. -

Array Yes, it is a rather bland, infantile little game, suitable only to keep the little ones busy while laviscious happenings are done in the next room. I played it around 7 years ago, and little has changed beyond making the world bigger and charging you money to see it.
That being said, some interesting things did occur during my play time; Runescape had (or has, for all I know) a follow function which allows you to follow in the footsteps of another player. The follow function keeps you at a constant distance from the followed player, and if a third player were to follow the second player, and a fourth were to follow the third, and so forth, a long line can be created of players which are a uniform distance from each other. When the brown monk robes were new and still available to only a small group of players (like myself) I donned the holy garb, drank several beers (which slurrs your typed-in speech), picked up a few for my soon-to-be mates, and crossed the countryside in search of fellow Drunk Munks (Runescape's geography was much smaller then, and one could cross the whole country, from Al-Kharid to the goblin village west of White Wolf Mountain where Camelot now stands, in a matter of five minutes). In the streets of the Barbarian Village we gathered, east to Varrock, wherein our ranks swelled to 30 or so, to Lumbridge, across the rolling emerald hills and waving fields of wheat, eventually to the grand city of Falador, singing and making merry. Interestingly, as we walked to the south entrance to the city on a long stone road, we were past by another uniform line of travelers, these all wearing green plate armor and green feathered helms. We made merry. They yelled abuse. No respect for the religious types in Falados, I suppose.
In any case, we dispersed on those grimey streets, shocking a great many travellers who had never seen monks before (again, Runescape was an irreligious land then, that is to say, the monk robes were new), and forming up our own little clan: The Drunk Munks of Falador.
Unfortunately, our inebriation and religious duties meant none of us were ever to meet again, but it was a fun idea nonetheless.
Like I said... infantile.

Array You can't expect a lot of content and graphics from a free game!
My personal online vice is Everquest. I have been playing that off and on since 2001. It may not have the Gee Whiz graphics of some of the newer games but content wise I think it still rules the genre. Fail until you succeed!

Array I did runescape last year. I promptly got bored, then went on to the next mmorpg. Right now I'm on MapleStory. It's okay, I guess. My rpg ADD should kick in soon and I'll find myself on another one. "I don't get mad... I get stabby." -Fat Tony -
