Fencing in Leipzig

I'm going to be in Leipzig, Germany for ten weeks starting on October. Does anybody know what the local fencing scene is like? I'm an adult recreational fencer and I currently fence twice a week, and I'd like to find a club in Leipzig (near the Max Planck Institute) so I can keep fencing while I'm over there. Who knows, I may even learn a few new tricks...

Is there a web site that has a list of clubs in Germany? My German is poor, but improving (thanks to an intensive language class).

you might want to ask you new collegues, too. fencing is not such an unusal sport with technical/academical folk over there.

most younger people have at least basic grasp of english, however, with eastern germany having been part oft the Eastern bloc till ´89, older folk may better understand russian.

ususally fees at clubs are very low, compared to the US, because the are not commercial, but an association ("verein"). most are happy to have guests from foreign countries fencing with them for a few weeks. but be aware - estern germany had some very strong fencers once, so you might find opponents hard to beat
