    Hear, hear!

I checked nerd because geek wasn't an option and that was as close as I could get.

I was fairly well the acknowledged alpha-geek of my HS. (I know, shocking!)

Fascinating. I was decidedly behind the senior sysadmins, being only a junior one. (Who worked on Macs and Novell, and not the Real Work, Linux.)

Pssh. Geeks are nerds in denial. Maybe they're closer to be "normal" or "cool" than the other nerds but they're living contradictions b.c. of it. Simply by not fully embracing their nerdom and accepting their true selves they prevent themselves from ever actually realizing their full potential to be cool. Poor poor geeks

I am definitely a geek (nerds don't have marketable skills) but fencing was the largest varsity team in my HS (weird!) and I was epee captain so I guess that could make me a jock as well? It was a pretty geeky HS...

I think I would've liked your school better. Where I went, the whole campus was brainwashed or something. They even had on campus "retreats" where your whole class would gather in the gym or on the football field.... Freaky.

well we still have retreats, but mostly no really gets in to it. If my memory serves me, the predominate conversation of the day was what does your dress for winter formal look like?

Lucky for you. It was like a Cult or some kind of horror movie or something at the school I used to go to. Maybe it was something in the water...
