2006-07 national event venues? I understand that in the chronology of selecting cities for a season's national events, the negotiations and selection of the "official" hotels may very well take place after the selection of each city.
But surely the venue selection for the event is part of the final selection of the city, and once the city is selected the venue is also determined.
If the USFA has now posted the official list of 2006-07 events, why aren't the event venues in those cities also listed as part of that posting? -
well, we know the venue for Nationals:
From another thread...
The SN 2007 would be in Miami and the venue appears to be Hall C of the Miami Beach convention center (MBCC -see the calendar of the venue) and not at the Miami Convention Center.

I'd imagine that NAC E in Atlanta would be the GWCC again. Just because it's funny: Originally Posted by Capt. Slo-mo If you don't want to lose fencing privileges at USFA-sanctioned events, then refrain from throwing flamagels at those events. -

1. The USFA has NOT posted the official list of locations for 2006-07 events. Christine Simmons sent an email to division officers, so that they can plan their schedules with the protected dates of national competitions.
2. The official posting is in the USFA website or the USFA magazine, none of which have been updated with information.
3. You can read about the process and tentative locations at: 2006-7 NAC tentative schedule
4. The only location that was secure, because of its size and dates, since about June is the Summer Nationals. I posted the comments that were referred in message #2. This is the original thread: 2007 Summer Nationals - Miami - Useful Info -

Array This article, titled "2006-2007 USFA Dates, Event Locations & Deadlines", was posted on the USFA web site on 27 July: http://www.usfencing.org/do/contentItem?contentId=2442 But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. -

Good, hopefully the place they pick won't have that 2 mile walk through the building. Just because it's funny: Originally Posted by Capt. Slo-mo If you don't want to lose fencing privileges at USFA-sanctioned events, then refrain from throwing flamagels at those events. -

I've never been to the NGFC, but would it be big enough for a NAC? Just because it's funny: Originally Posted by Capt. Slo-mo If you don't want to lose fencing privileges at USFA-sanctioned events, then refrain from throwing flamagels at those events. -

It doesn't look like it can hold 36 strips, from the pictures there. -

This is the original thread: 2007 Summer Nationals - Miami - Useful Info Since you seem to be up on the workings of the process, perhaps you can address my question about the confirmed selection of locations/cities WITHOUT having selected venues; how does that happen?
Seems like it implies that "we've selected City X but we don't know where we're actually going to hold the event." I'd think the two would be inextricably linked. -
Perhaps THS is still working out specifics with host hotels, etc. -
Originally Posted by Crazy Horse I think he said it was going to be held at NGFC. Nice venue. See it at ngfc.us I don't think this was serious. Nice venue, but not for a NAC. Maybe an RYC though. There is a very nice location not far from NGFC at the Gwinnett Convetion Center that would be very nice though. -
I just got back from a trip to the Magic: The Gathering national championships in Atlanta (my brother was in the junior championships). They held it at the Cobb Galleria. I must say, the location was very nice. There are 3-4 excellent hotels within a few hundred yards. There's a small shopping mall in the Galleria, including food court. I believe there are 3-4 large convention halls. Any one of the halls could probably hold a NAC. Hall C where the Magic tournaments were held was probably only a little smaller than the room at GWCC that Nat's used. Just because it's funny: Originally Posted by Capt. Please let me restate my original question more succinctly:
How can the location/city be selected and the venue NOT be known? -

I believe he was telling you how the city could be known without the venue, ie by looking at what information we already knew. -

"info at usfencing.org", aka (say it aloud and, what ho! an email address!), is the general information email address for the USFA. Questions about the NAC venues for the 2006-07 season should probably be directed to the USFA.
(note - edited by craig to remove the email address so the nasty spam harvest programs won't hang out here)
