Huh. Talk about serendipity. You've had a real garbage plate then, right? Or were you too young?

I guess so. A garbage plate is a local delicacy in rochster; look it up on wikipedia.

Ahhh..yes, that brings back fond memories of my college days at RIT... food for the brain.. doing all those all night mugging for the finals

Hmmm, in retrospect that could explain my present Tubbiness..hmmm. But never fear, with my present fencing coaches regrime of 15 minutes of continous 10 steps--> lunge, have lost 5 kg in the past month.

is it a disadvantage being a tubby fencer. because im 6' 200 lbs and im a built guy. like, very football player looking. that could be cause i play football, but does it give me a disadvantage. The target for the opponent is larger, no?

Hmmm.. let's look at it from the BMI point of view, U are around 27 and I am in the >30 range. Neither of us are small in build, but from my limited experience of a foilist, NO it's not a disadvantage! Granted in principle there is a greater target area to score, but U don't stand squarely against your opponent, rather U only have your profile against them. With agility in your footwork and good blade control, u can minimize the 'risk'...and have an even playing field

Pfft. You're tiny. I'm 6'4 and weigh 250. Used to be 280. I also have a 50 inch chest. Don't worry too much about being built like a big sucker; you can still succeed. See if you can find a picture of Seth Kelsey; he's built more or less like me and has a bit of a gut to boot, and yet he's one of the best epeeists in the world. Or look at Jan Vivani; he fenced in the 04 olympics and is built like a bowling ball.

I just checked up on the Garbage Plate entry in Wikipedia.

Given the detail, I assume it's accurate (RIT - did you do this?).

3 questions:

1. Is any consumer of the GP required to go for a cholesterol test at any time?
2. How frequently should/can one consume this . . . er . . . culinary offering.
3. Is there a reason why it's called a Garbage Plate?

Write the wiki? No. Eat a plate? You bet your ass. Mmmmm good.

1. No. Although a study was done; to burn off the calories of one plate, you would need to swim for 8 hours.

2. As often as your body can stand it.

3. Take a look at one... looks like a plate of garbage, especially when you mix it around.
