| Fencers to Watch As a fencing parent, I have enjoyed watching the young fencers coming up at tournaments and maturing/advancing year to year. Opinions as to who are the youth fencers to watch in the future? |

| Where are you located? Or are you not talking about physically watching, rather paying attention to their results etc. through Fred?

Well, development and success, so both. Did anyone see Jason Rogers, Ivan Lee, Emily Cross, or Rebecca Ward as Y12/Y14 or even Y10 and say to themselves, "Wow" (Of course, Hurleys don't count, aren't they still that age?) |

| Courtney is 15 or 16 I believe, and Kelley is too old for Cadets, but still in Juniors. I know they're both in High School.
Edit: For some Dallas area fencers, I think that David and Sara Akrami might go somewhere in sabre. For their age, I'm quite impressed by their skills. |

| I see Bravo and Massialas doing well in foil, even in older age categories. Spear and Ryjik in Y12MS were fun to watch in the finals at Nationals, but Spear seems to have better success against older (bigger) competition. Also, Powers in WS came out of nowhere to win Y10 and place second in Y12 against good competition (Burdan is her coach?). All seem to have good training and the major coaches all had students enjoy good success in the youth categories. |

| Pay close attention to the brothers Schneller, Cody and Alex.
Beating up sabre fencers at a tournament near you soon.

POwers came to one of my club's tournaments last season. She is an amazing (and very sweet) young lady. The first bout I saw her fence, I knew she had a future in this sport. Lots of talent.

He was right around Y14 then. I don't think I said "wow", I'm pretty sure the word I used had 4 letters. |

| We said "Wow" about Emily Cross because of her dad and his notebook

Beautiful fencer, very well composed and spoken -- an inspiration... I always am thankful to the FOC when I am able to referee her. |

| The Schnellers as Whtouche mentioned along with Marissa Dearing as Seak mentioned. I can't really think of anyone else right now, but I'llc onfirm that tey are all good choices for fencers who will succeed.

I think it was at the 2000 Nationals in Austin when I saw her first fence. I thought, boy, she really knows how to fence and only at that young age.
Same with Doris Willette. I saw her come up from the depths when she started fencing in local competitions. She was always very capable and always beat her opponents.
Another was Eric Durante, who sort of peaked at 14 and is now way out of the sport.
Gerek Meinhardt, who is now a top-notch fencer, was never that impressive when he started (i.e., during his Y10/Y12 years), but he really improved when he hit 13. I remember once in a practice bout against him, I was ahead 14-3. He came back and beat me 15-14. Of course, it was a practice bout and I was trying a certain hit against him for my last touch and he didn't let me do it. But when the score got to 14-10 or so, I bore down to try to just beat him and he didn't let me.
A lot of other Bay Area youth fencers are in the same league. Just watching them grow from a nothing kid to a top-ranked fencer is just awe-inspiring.

| Ben Van Son in men's foil... I think this year he ages out of Y-14 if he hasn't already but he's earning cadet points pretty regularly and made the 8 of div 1A men's foil in atlanta.

I will have to wait for the olympics for any sign of fencing.
Where can I go online?
I know fencingchannel.tv but I couldn't get it to work?

Where can i watch the masters? | You should be able to get fencingchannel.tv to work. It's an excellent site with many videos of high-level fencing (in fact, it's the best free resource I've found). If I can get it to work with Linux, you can probably get it to work with whatever system you have. PM me to tell me about what OS & browser & media player you have that won't work, or just switch to MPlayer ( www.mplayerhq.hu) (since it will play almost everything on fencingchannel.tv).
Incidentally, if by HK you mean Hong Kong, I thought there were some high-level clubs around there; aren't there? Seeing international competitors in person is much better than video. |

| Yea, Hong Kong, I can't find any, I guess I will ask my coach for any information.
Well it just shows the quicktime logo but nothing shows up, the only thing that works was the korea junior and cadet competition.
I use firefox, I tried with IE, it didn't work too.
I have Quicktime 7.0.3 btw. |
