This system essentially reduces reliance upon regional tournaments, barring those with a number of As in each weapon, and relegates reliance to both CSCs, or their new equivalent, Nationals and NACs.

While I'm not against fencers traveling to accumulate experience, this is part of your development as an athlete, it does tend to favour those Provinces with stronger events.

Sadly, those without a large competive population only have a handfull of As to spare.

To get an "A", one has to become a member of the High Performance Program (which is limited to approximately 12 per weapon) and earn a "Squad" rating or better.

"Squad" rating requires two "B" results at designated international competitions (the ones you find listed on the CFF website in the HPP Rankings). Whether a result is a "B" or not depends on both the placing and the number of top 128 FIE-ranked fencers at the competition. It's also mandatory to finish in the top 40%.
