    a [very] bad day...

Hiya, currently im new to the forum and am hoping to find lots of great advice and stuff to help me out with my fencing skills (and hopefully become less of a disappointment to myself).

see it all started today with our first day of fencing (i took intermediate, figuring i might have more than a fraction of my old skills left in me). now to my dismay i realised that i had pretty much forgotten all of the more intermediate stuff, along with most of my stamina being lost, so class today was pretty bad. i did half of the work and drills that everyone else did (although i would have gladly done more), and was sweating more than i normally do after running 3 miles now all in all i havent lost all of my skills (says 2-5 end score on someone who has been fencing for 5-6 years to my 1 year and brake).

i hope to improve on my form and fencing skills and view it mainly as a sport for fun (i may get into a couple of tournaments when im older, but right now ive got $40 and still need a foil and mask and...everything).

I fenced in 7th grade for 2 semesters (now in 9th) with my friend and we had lotsa fun, the 2 people i couldnt beat were my friend, and the other is now my girlfriend. after that i took a year off for no real reason (i regret doing that) and am back...probably gonna wear white but whatever.

Welcome back! Don't worry, you'll get back into shape soon enough. I know it sucks now, but stick with it. You'll be glad you did.

Even when you're fencing on a regular basis you have crappy days.... sometimes several in a row. It's to be expected. Give yourself time to get back into the feel of it. In no time, you'll be back to where you were and in fine fencing form.

Welcome to the forum. Enjoy both fencing and the forum!
