There's also a chain of shops called EmbroidMe (they have a national website). If you go with a local athletic shop or embroidery place, have them use a 'fill' stitch instead of a satin stitch. Satin stitched names can get ratty looking after a while if you aren't careful.
For names on knickers, are there still the same requirements for size?
Another thought, should the first letter go at the top or at the bottom? Owner's choice or is there a distinct preference? Do we need a poll?
Even tougher luck for small people and/or kids. At least with jackets you can start on the sleeve, across the back and down the other sleeve if needed to accomodate a long name. For really long names do they start up the leg and veer across the rump and down the other leg? Couldn't do that with first letter at the top.
Also, you should never need your country on knickers since names on knickers is only relevant at home.
The one time I put my name on knickers was near the end of a NAC when Marx Enterprises was caught up and bored. At my request, they took the time to do it as:
H
A
L
L
USA
You might say they welcome short names like mine because it improves the income to time/materials ratio.
Yes we do emb. names we do them as a patch that way you can transfer the name. We have plenty of experience and we do used a fill stitch not a satin as it can catch a point. We have a turn time of 24 hrs or less. We used a Navy blue thread which is dark because it does fade after a while. We can also add a border as well for 5.00. We were the first company to offer this service. Yes the size req is the same Bill 8 to 10cm our program is set for about 9 to 9 1/2 cm. No rules on the legs which way it goes never thought of that one Bill. That why the name panel is nice it can be sew on either way first letter on top or bottom
