| Requiem for a blade... I just have to comment that I finally broke my practice (dry) STM foil blade. Rest in pieces...
Why am I bummed by this? Well, I bought the blade as near as I can reconstruct this in about 1985-1986. Its been my primary practice blade for 20 years. Now, it helped I was out of the sport for a decade in the middle.. but it was an amazingly old blade to be in regular use.
Broken 15 July in a bout with one of the nationally rated Vet 50 fencers... |

| Are you looking for condolences or snide comments? I think you're going to get both.
On a serious note, are you going to frame, bury, or cremate what's left of your good friend? Sound like some sort of respectful memorialization is in order.

| There were plenty of Scandanavians in the Kievian Rus, back before Russia was around. For that matter, I believe it was King Charles XII of Sweden who invaded the Ukraine, slightly more recently. There's plenty of cultural background to justify burning a very small ship around this blade. The only trick is figuring out how to fit your helmet around the horns on your head. |

Seriously, give it a shot. Might make a nice thing to hang over the mantle.
I know how you feel, I still have my first FIE blade and I'm very protective of it for sentimental reasons (still works and passes weights and shims, too.)

| Sure it does. If it was broken, I wouldn't test his weight or shims, so he wouldn't know, officially. |

| Give it to that elf guy from the Lord of the Rings.
But don't expect a speedy turn around.

| I still have the pieces from my first blade. (STM foil) I took the barrel off of it and made it into a neclase which I now never take off. Strange, I know, but it was my first blade, and I was wrather attached to it. |
