| Knickers & Jacket sizing questions (note: I have used the search function for threads that answer these questions but was unable to find one).
What is the best way to measure for jackets and knickers? (I have a cloth tape measure but I am unsure of where to take the best measurements for the best fit.) Most sites that I have looked at give different examples of where to measure, such as just inside leg and waist for knickers and one site said just waist and chest measurements for jackets.
How much extra space should I leave for my knickers and jacket. (how loose is to loose and how tight should it be in certian areas)
P.S. Last time I bought knickers and a jacket it was at an event and it was all done for me. also I think they weren't fitted right last time but not knowing much I kept them and didn't fuss.

| Honestly, the best way to get stuff that fits is to get it during an event.
Failing that- as in this case- try on gear of a friend's. Or go to your club, and try on as much of it as possible, figuring out what fits.
This obviously works better if the club you go to A) has people your size and B) has the brand you're looking to buy.
That said, you can always call/email the company. They usually know how sizes run, and can help you....
Personally, I've found that a little roomey is always better than a little tight. (Jury is still out on a little tight vs. very roomey....)

| If you can't try stuff out, your best bet is to contact the vendor. They usually make recommendations as to where to measure and how roomy to order your gear. Each vendor does it slightly differently, so once you've settled on an order, go with that company's guidelines. |

I still have my old pair of knickers......... the ones that are see-thru? They're great for mixed tournaments.

| Waist for knickers, chest (under the armpits) for jackets...presuming you are norally proportioned...if you're carrying a lot of extra weightm you may need a custom size.
For companies using teh Uhlmann sizing chart (Fencing Post and H.O.M., for example) you take the chest measurement in inches and add 12 if you;re a man (4 if you're a woman) to get the euro size, which is the size on the jacket itself....thus a man with a 40 inch chest wears a size 52 jacket. |

Nobody wants to see a war pig in tight-see-thru knickers with the camel toe effect.
If its an attractive lady, then its really not bad at all.

Unless you want to make sure she won't get a blade through the leg, in which case....... a more robust fabric might be preferable.

| I'd think that's rather up to her, and I hope everyone would agree. |

It catches a lot of people, because they hit him square in the chest and the light doesn't go off. It can really mess with your sense of distance when your opponents chest looks a few inches closer than it actually is. |

| Have a problem with my knickers, to find something that fits my girth (okay I admit I am short and round), I find it length reaching two inches from my ankles.. so pulling them up toward me knees, I look like one of the characters off the moive The King and I.. with those balloning pants.. |
