Glowstix... should that be a bad comparison to make? Yeah, Bruce is the UF coach. We get reminded at boot camp how fencing can be a priority. In this last semester, I have a 20 hour a week teaching load, and my thesis, nothing else. I think by the time evening rolls around, I'll NEED some fencing to keep me sane. As it is, I'm avoiding doing summer work for fall thesis by working on fencing.

Griffindm- I agee that the cleanups are some of the best options available. We try really hard to keep from selling things (other than ourselves ), so the types of fund raising that has been done in the past are things like stuffing fliers for the University's newspaper at 2am, etc. We haven't looked into cleanups recently, though when I played on the women's rugby team, we did some of them, and they paid well. Have to look into that again.

Like Glow was saying, if it means enough to you, you make time. I wasn't able to go to practice as much as I would have liked last semester, but when you're doing 17 hours of Engineering courses, Working part-time, giving Engineering Departmental tours, and have a significant other who is also doing 17 hours of Engineering to spend time with, you have to work things out as best you can.

If it's a priority, you'll make it fit as best you can.
    Just because it's funny:

you speak words of wisdom, oh if they only the had the "fire" in their belly for fencing! i think all too often young folks want the sword play but don't want to put in the work! i wish i had a-hundred with the fire like i (had) have... and I'm an old man! i imagine if they really wanted to be good, they'd hang for the weekend sessions.
