| Fencing Photos Years ago, I met a young British woman while in France that was the best fencing photographer around.
I ran across a website of hers that displays her work. If you really want to see some great pics... go to: http://www.khsportsphotos.co.uk/fencing/fpl_index.htm
Her name is Karina Hosykns.

Her name is Karina Hosykns. | Wow, great photos! It says there, "Karina Hoskyns is the official photographer for the International Fencing Federation." I can understand it. |

| Yeah, these are top quality. Better watch out, Serge; you've got competition.

Someone's playing fast and loose with their articles (no, I mean "the" vs. "a"). I wonder who. Not that it matters a whole lot, AFAIAC. They're both great photographers. |

| Karina Hoskyns was the official FIE photographer until 2003, when I officially took over the position at the 2003 World Championships in Cuba. The FIE sent her to Athens with me in 2004 in recognition of her contributions to the organization over the years; this was her last FIE event.
She now primarily shoots football (soccer) and rugby in the UK, and has had some health issues that prevent her from traveling too far.
Jochen Faerber, the German who runs video and many press activities for the FIE, also provides photography on occasion. We work together in many situations, but he's typically too busy with his other responsibilities to do full-scale photographic documentation of fencing events the way I do.
However, this said, the vision for FencingPhotos.com is to continue to grow as the still image presence of the FIE online and beyond. This means that we will bring more photographers into the "picture," if you will, over time. We want to more thoroughly cover the sport, and my abilities as the sole photographer are somewhat limited.
We are working on a new web design, to be launched later this summer, and we'll be actively seeking more coverage of the sport -- which I hope will be to everyone's benefit.
By the way, "Tiger Mountain Photo" is the company that legally owns FencingPhotos.com. It's our studio in Seattle -- you may remember it from a few years ago when we did photos at the U.S. Nationals (a gig that we turned down when the FIE opportunity arose). |

I figured it was something like that. Promotional text on websites doesn't always get updated regularly to keep up with changing events. |

Her name is Karina Hosykns.
Rick | She is also married to the president of British Fencing Keith Smith, and her dad Bill was an Olympic/World epee/foil medalist in the 60's. Her brother wasn't a bad fencer either.

We have a rather complex and detailed process and technique for digital photography workflow, as well as specific requirements for shooting fencing events, and the photographers will need to work within the defined parameters. That said, we always seek new style and perspective, and will always give prominent credit and presentation to the contributing talent.
That's about all I know for now; this is still somewhat embryonic. If you or someone you know is interested, please let me know at serge@fencingphotos.com and we can discuss details more thoroughly. |
