Array Multicoloured Fencing Kit Fun! Ah the joy of washing clothes! Even better! The joy as someone else washes your clothes for you! Aaaarrrggghh! They dyed your fencing kit pink!!!
Relax again take a deep breath. Assess the situation. Look the dye has only affected parts of your kit resulting in a pleasant "strawberry cheesecake" effect!
So lets hear those stories - how many of you have had Multicoloured Fencing Kit Fun! -

Array I once washed my whites with a pair of blue jeans and ended up with a nice blue tinge to my gear, Quite lovely actually. Never did wash out--it was a sad day when I retired them. "Kill the men, save the women, and by the gods, do not spill the wine" -
i know someone with a truly multicolored kit
bright red knickers, white torso on the jacket, blue on the sleeves...
looks really ... umm ... interesting??? -

Array Had the problem.
My fencing gear has a shade of pink to it.
Interestingly enough, on my equipment, only the cotton parts sucked the dye in. Which means that most of the panels are still white. The pink stuff is on the ends where they have that stretch cotton, on the groin strap, and on the suspenders.
Whatever, I don't care.
One bit of advice though. Don't use bleach (i.e. Clorox) to clean your fencing stuff. A friend of mine tried and it turned his pants yellow...

Array I have washed my jacket and plastron in hot water, with bleach, many times without ill effects. But if you have ANY doubt that there's anything other than cotton in the garment, heed veeco's advice! Kevlar doesn't like the stuff, either...
RIT makes a product called Dye Remover, if you're really aghast at pastel togs. Sometimes effectual, sometimes not. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Array Washed my whites last night for the first time (mum used to do it). They got clean on the gentle cycle with a large wack of Ace Vitaliser and Cyclon powder, HOWEVER I have black marks on them that werent there b4....2 a few black greasy looking strips. Anyone got any ideas???? Theses are evil....VERY evil, someone rescue me pls! -
Hmmmm, grease... see is there is a type of laundry product that you can spray directly onto the grease and let it soak intothe fabric for 10-20 minutesand then wash the garment again.
In the states, Spray and Wash is a product and there might be a cleaning fluid that you can use directly on the grease without having to re-wash the garment.
Good luck!!! I live to fence and fence to live!! -

Array As I said I actually liked the end result. The new problem is that as the dye hasn't fixed it has pretty much washed out (boo). I am thinking of dyeing my new kit pink permanently (when I buy it). -

Array Gav
You might need to buy a "pink" lame and red mask to co-ordinate with your jacket and breeches when you dye them permenantly...
However, be warned, I know someone who used to tease Jonathan Weekes about looking like a strawberry (and that was when he just wore a red lame and mask...) :-)

Array And will you be changing your handle to "Pink Fencer", to match Sam's "Purple Fencer", then? Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -
