| FIE jacket material Does anyone know where to purchase (and the name of) the fabric that is used to make FIE jackets [or a comparible alternative]? I guess I would ask if there is a difference in the fabric used in the stretchy ones, and the non-stretchy jackets. Also about how expensive it is to purchase in a small quantity (a few yards)?
I am making a coaching jacket from scratch, and was looking into the posibility of using the same material as an FIE jacket.
Thanks,
Aaron
PS I will check the forum, but you can also email me directly, thanks sdfencing@hotmail.com |

| My understanding is Dyneema is one of the most popular materials, although there are others. |

I can't say enough good things about them. Plus I'm sure that they will either supply you with the fabric OR since Wanda is brilliant at sewing I'm sure she can either give you tips or make it for you which, unless you are incredibly attached to making it yourself should probably be done by someone who does it for a living.
Either way I can promise you'll be happy if you call them.

| I am not assembling it myself. I live near some seamstresses that do prototyping for nike/addidas and they would be assembling it.
I am actually looking for materials and have the design of the jacket ready. |

| I guess I would ask also if anyone knew if the 350kn material is the same as the 800kn spectra/dyneema- or is it a different material. Thanks. |

The 350N Dyneema cloth is 70% dyneema 30% cotton (actually testes at 420N)
800N is 50/50 (tested at (885N)
and there's a 930N that's 80% dyneema 20% cotton |

| Thanks Sam,
Brad-
It's not just the blend that would give the risistance, but the weave, threadcount, and weight of the individual fibers would all influence it (as I understand it.) [Providing it wasn't a typo]
