| Video Cams At South Bend some person try to have a touch annual because the he claim the refree made a bad call and he could prove it because he had it on tape. Well that dosen't mean crap because the rules doesn't allow for video. If i was that refree and that person run up to me and started yell at me he would have out of there with a big black card. Can you image the chaos that would cause at a world cup if video was allowed. Every call would be argue. The USFA should flat come a state that video will not be use to over ruled the refree no matter if it is a bad called.

| If its true that the call was bad I think it should be annulled, everyone makes mistakes including referees. Did you watch the video? What happened in the action? |

| The instant replay rule is not used in the USFA or FIE, so there is no way any ref should ever view a tape before finalizing his call.
I have seen many bad calls caught on tape. I have seen even more instances when the fencers coach is the one doing the taping and what he sees through a viewfinder is not what the ref saw through his trusty naked eyes.
Trust the ref. Even if he sucks, if he's impartial, you can fence. If you don't trust him, you won't enjoy, or improve, your fencing.

| There are calls, even at the highest level (e.g., 2001 WC, Sanza v Attelly) where the call is wrong. But hey, that's the nature of the beast. Get on with it. If there are several wrong calls by that one referee, the BC will change the person as soon as possible.

| Tim,
I spoke with someone that saw the call you are talking about. He felt that the outcome of the bout would have been the same.

| Having fenced more dry bouts than electrical ones, I have been screwed over by quite a few touch judges... but at the same time, I got awarded a few touches where I am pretty sure I missed.
It's the nature of the game... you win some, you loose some.
If the director is abysmally bad, it'll be noticed at some point.
I don't think video tape reviews should be the norm. However, in high-level competitions (Nationals, Olympics, etc.), the director should be allowed to consult a recording before making a call he/she is not quite sure of. Maybe that's what fencing needs to become more popular on TV... Instant Replay's...
