| Guess I'd be considered a Star Wars fan also. I've read most of the books too.
Redsector - not sure if this is what you mean, but there is already a multi-player on-line game for Rogue Squadron. It's a real blast flying squadron missions against the Empire, but it was a little frustrating with only a 56k modem so I haven't played it in a while.

Sebulba isn't the junk merchant that owned Lil' Darth and his mom.
Sebulba was the evil pod pilot that sabotaged lil' Darth's pod racer.
Qui'gon Jinn suspected that the midiclorians had conceived lil' Darth. Would a supposedly psychic Jedi miss something like the fact that Anakin is half human half backwards-walking-freakazoid? And that his mother was lying through her teeth about her rather disgusting sexual history?

| wannab,
I am going to show right now that I am a bigger geek than you:
it is spelled Muad'dib. (correct pronunciation, though).
Dune is a great book, though both movie versions left a lot out.

| Ok, so I got the name wrong, but you know who I mean, right? The guy who owned Anakin's mom and Anakin. Floating guy with wings. Genetically compatible, but with highly recessive genes (thankfully!). |

| Mike,
I haven't read the book yet, but I was planing on it after I finished the book I'm reading right now. I have heard that the two movies do leave alot out. I think that the most resent remake left out a lot of stuff just from the dune that was made right before it. (That would be the one with sting) K I will shut up now.

| Doug,
I really don't think that Watto is Anakin's dad... just thinking about that possibility makes me shudder...
I just wish that Lucas would put Star Wars on a DVD, so I could just flip back and forth between my favority scenes... (Hmm... put the Darth Maul lightsabre fight on repeat and watch it all day long... )
On a related note, Wizards of the Coast released a new version of the tabletop Star Wars RolePlaying Game last winter... I have been playing that off and on since then, and they did a really good job with it, in case we have any RPG people on these boards.

| Dune is great... Of course the both movies had to leave a lot out... after all, it's a big book (plus it's only one of many books in the series)
But don't forget the spoof version of Dune: National Lampoon's DOON
"Arruckus -- men call it Doon, the Dessert Planet. It is a sugar covered wasteland entirely devoid of entrees, patrolled by a terrifying species of giant pretzel. This savage world is the setting for an apocalyptic drama. On one side is the evil baron Vladimir Hardchargin -- ruthless, voracious, extremely fat. Opposing him: Pall Agamemnides, the teen-ager who may {or may not} be the messiah. Paul's only allies are the planet's nomadic tribes, the fiercely religious, sweatsuit-wearing Freedmenmen.
These forces clash in a deadly contest over Doon's one precious resource, a substance found nowhere else in the universe: the mind-altering liquid known as beer."

| STAR WARS ROCKS!!! ok now that we have that out of the way.. hehe.. i totaly agree with every one who says Ewoks are cool.. it was gave star wars the "cute-ness" factor of ten.. and there is somethig about the lightsaber that can't be beat... George Lucas did a wonderful thing when he creatied the star wars univerise.. now people can't stop Reading/watching/learning about it.. |

| Thanks for the backing up on the Ewok front.
I'd say the coolest thing about the light saber were the sound-effects.
It made them almost seem like they were made of ice.. the way they sounded when they hit eachother.. and also the way the bits flew off..
EWOKS FOREVER!Didn't they make a spin-off film about the Ewoks?
I liked the one on the scouter thingy. Aaaaah!
Steve.

Sorry, but the "Doon" thing reminded me of it. I may be rendered useless for the rest of the day by this.

| And if you liked the National Lampoos Doon...
Try reading Bored of the Rings it's one of the funniest books I've ever read.
BTW Lord of the Rings WILL blow Star Wars off the planet!!!.
The original SW films are good enjoyable space opera but not worth attention they attract. George Lucas maybe one of the richest people in movie history but he can't write dialogue for toffee. The originals were carried entirely by the cast (even Mark Hammil who I've always thought wasn't as bad as people said). Mr Lucas is actually very rich due to his shrewd marketing ability (Star Wars toys ARE the best) and ILM which he owns. |

| I think it was more the time they came out, and the innovativness of the little world he thought up, rather then acting or dialogue. I don't think that it can really be wiped away at this point (I sure hope it can't!). But I agree, they've got championship marketers out there, lol.

| Gav...
I read "Bored of the Rings" in it's German translation... "Lord of the Onion Rings". Funny...
But you are right: at least for me, the Lord of the Rings movies will blow Star Wars away. LotR is the best book I have ever read. I first read it when I was 8, and I have read it over a dozen times in both German and English. I have been checking out all the sites on it and the screen shots and the trailer look amazing. Not some half-baked attempt at a good fantasy movie like the D&D movie. This is the good stuff. I can't wait for Christmas this year... not for the presents... but for Lord of the Rings.

| Marc-
I think you mentioned earlier that you "wish that Star Wars was out on DVD". Well "Episode I" will come on on DVD in Oct. Reserve your copy today! Personally I want to watch the end fight over and over again! The only redeeming scene in the movie.
As for LOTR, if it is as good as it appears to be in the trailers, then it could very well "blow Star Wars away" as someone else stated. We shall see!

| As a friend of mine is fond of saying:
George Lucas envisioned a great lightsaber battle and built a movie around it.
