| Blade Re-wire Regardless of any of their reputation -- I had a blade (VNITI) that needed a re-wire. I brought it to Blade (in NYC) for repair. I picked it up and literally after one bout the wire broke (it was wired too tight).
Should I/Do I bring it back to Blade and ***** and moan until they fix it? Or, chalk it up to "Blade being Blade" and have my club armourer fix it (which will cost me another 10-20 bucks).
Opinions, comments, snide remarks all welcome.

| My suggestion is that you learn to do it yourself, and do it yourself. But other than that, given Blade's reputation and the fact that they can easily say that wires just break sometimes, I don't think you'll have much luck with Blade.

It's essentially a matter of convience. It's not even an issue of the money so much as the fact that it was literally one bout. I mean, the work was just sub-par. I may call and warn him that I intend to dispute the charge with my credit-card company.
It's really just b.s. I've been warned, I know not to deal with Blade but my entire club is at Nationals. . .I had no choice b/c I didn't even have the tools availible to rewire the blade myself. That being said, I figured, it was just a rewire, what's the harm?
I suspect you may be right about having any luck...But a man has to fight even on principle. I may tell him he can just give me a new wire and I'll take care of it myself. But, I am really just annoyed b/c of the principal...I should have expected such things, but sometimes a person just doesn't listen (to his coach and accompanying chorus).

EDIT: The advantage I do have is I can drive in and display the weapon and dispute in person. People from out of the area may not have the same advantage.

| how does any of the viniti's reputations have anything to do breaking a wire? The most reasonable explaination for this that the person didnt wire the blade in a flexed position, so the wire just breaks after the a big flex of the blade in the bout.
But rewiring is not that hard though, it onlys takes a couple of tries to be good at it, maybe you should do it yourself. |

You're right it has nothing to do with Viniti. It was Blade's reputation I was talking about -- sorry if that was unclear.
And I agree, the wire was too tight, which is why I blame Blade...b/c the wire was probably too tight.
Maybe my post just wasn't clear.

They sold me a blade with a broken wire once. I asked them to send me a new wire (I would do it myself). They blamed me for breaking the wire and told me to send it back and pay them $15 + return shipping... all for a damn wire.

that's why I insist to buy bare blades and wire them myself. last time I bought a wired viniti, the wire popped out after slight use because they didnt clean the groove enough. since then I started to buy bare blades and clean them thoroughly and wire them nicely myself. |

| Blade is pretty bad in general, with their wiring jobs standing out as being especially bad. I bought a blade from them and used it for a tournament. The wire fell out a little more than halfway through so I stopped using it, and I haven't rewired it because the blade is nearly broken anyway. |
