| HOM glove review redux It's been a month or so that I've been heavily using the purple prototype HOM glove. One thing that I realized last practice is that, with use, the grippy texture has *stopped* being grippy and is now *slippery*! I definitely found that my fingers were sliding around on my sabre grip. It wasn't just sweat, either, since I let the glove dry all the way out, and it still feels slippery.
I've never used a glove before that had grippy texture on it, so I have no idea if this is common to grippy surfaces in general, but it does confirm my initial dislike of grippy stuff. It seemed good at first, but now I'm in the position of having to choose between excellent hand protection (HOM) and excellent finger control (Uhlmann). Argh. I think that for Nationals I will have to default back to the Uhlmann and just cross my fingers that I don't get whacked on the hand.
I'll definitely check out the new-and-improved HOM glove at Nationals in a couple of days (glad to see that the grippy area is reduced, at least) though. Any chance of producing it in a version that doesn't have the grippy material at all? |

Yeah....I'm still playing with the grip layout...I remember my BG purple washable a few years back HAD no grippy. I'm still trying to decide on teh best pattern. |

Anyway it looks like the grippy stuff that I have on my generic grip glove and I can say that its not the same material as on the uhlmann alligator grip glove, which is much more grippy. Im thinking of dipping my grips in plasti-dip stuff so I dont have to worry about the grippyness on the gloves. I think I would like that solution better.
Definately getting blue armor one this week, though. I actually really like the way it looks despite some comments from others. |

| I got the glove.
At first, I hated it. The padding didn't do much, it was bulky and stiff, and I didn't like the amount of color.
But now I like it. My grips used to be on the small side, so my hand is still a bit cramped, but the glove isn't stiff now that I've used it. The color isn't too bad either.
I'm indifferent about the grippy stuff. My hand doesn't really have enough room to slide and make a difference.
The glove is a bit bulky for epee, in my opinion. Maybe it would be good as an epee practice glove for those who don't like their hand and wrist hit.
The glove is good with protection, but it doesn't make a difference for hard bellguard hits to the hand. I don't really think this is a fault with the glove, though. |

| I got the glove but I need to break it in. Love the padding. Too stiff now though. |

| I could not approach close enough to the gloves to get a good look at them, due to the, ah, intensity of the colors...

| Now look, Achilleus may be a bit brusque at times, but I wouldn't call him a heel.

| I saw the glove and tried it on, but in all honesty it's a bit too thick for my liking.

i HATE it when they don't listen... |

| Ahh. Well in all fairness I tried one of the good LP gloves and they were a bit thick for me too, so mostly it could just be me having weird preferences.

| I tried the new ones on and liked the fit much better, in the fingers (which was where the other one wasn't great).
It did feel a bit bulky.
Making the grippy material gray instead of black seemed like a very good idea. Less potential for color rubbing off.
I might have gotten one, except that I've decided that I don't like the grippy material. This isn't a reflection on the HOM glove in particular; now that I've tried a grippy glove, I don't plan on buying *any* grippy glove. |

The problems was once you had the older glloves on, the thumb/palm juncture didn't allow the glove to be pulled on any mroe, leaving a small gap between the finger/palm juncture on the hand and the same place in the glove.
Keep checking back with me when you see me at events, Holly...I may have a non-grippy and slightly less bulky one in the future...and I'm working on the sabre combo glove finally. |

| Maybe she's already been blinded by an incautious glance at them.

| Well I have a complete set of these gloves at our club.
After a few weeks of use I can honestly say they are the safest and best built glove on the market.
They are a bit think and the grip surface is great but goes donw to far on the finger making it thinker but it's a great glove. I recommend them to everyone!
the one in one cuff/glove makes the glove strong and safer than the standard glove that comes unstiched and what not.
Anyway just my 2 cent, buy em up they are GREAT! |

| And the fact that they are in your club's colors has nothing to do with your enthusiasm, I am sure.

| It was certainly bluer than I might have liked, but the bigger issue to me was the loss of ability to manipulate or feel with my fingers. Alas, I had to go with the tried and true Uhlmann again. But I really like the idea, and if you come out with a slightly thinner glove, I'll certainly look into it again (particularly if it doesn't have grippy stuff on it ^^)

| All the feed back will certainly help!
Hmmm....perhaps a thinner material on the palm side......
This will, unfortunately, REALLY be an issue with the Armor 800.....there's only so thin the material can be and still do the job...I may have to look into thin material in the last couple of finger joints, then full 800N further down.... |
