| Just an EPEE scoring box? I own six 3-weapon scoring boxes that have never been used for saber, and are used for foil on very rare occasions. This seems like a waste.
Would it be significantly cheaper to make boxes that were epee specific?
It seems like it should be, but it's not my area.

It seems like it should be, but it's not my area. | Speaking for the Eigertek Eclipse, the cost of the parts that would be saved to make an epee-only scoring machine is small, under $25 per machine.

| I would think that the only difference between a 1 weapon box and a 3 weapon box would be the programming and the absence of white lights. I don't think this would amount to much of a cost difference.
Granted, an épée-only box would rarely have to be upgraded. When was the last time the FIE changed anything in Épée, anyway?

No leg targets in epee, yes visor masks, and that flicking thing has to go! ><

The following year, it is announced that only one weapon will be represented in the Olympics, so each weapon will appear once every 12 years.
In the following Olympics, in place of the missing fencing events, two new immensely popular trash-sports involving sand, bikinis, and wet towels will be introduced. It is estimated that over 100 people will watch these events on TV, beginning after midnight, plastered with hours of commentary about the lives, relatives, and pets of the competitors. Actual competition is pre-empted by commercials.
And a year later, someone is made the head of an important Olympic committee, involving arduous fact-finding trips to vacation spots around the world . . .
Grrrr.

| Our division is thinking about buying new Eigertek machines for foil and saber and use the older (non-Eigertek) machines for epee only, as the timings have not varied.

Joe, would your division be interested in saving some money on your Eclipses? Maybe I can convince American Fencers Supply to extend the $295 sale for a few extra days after the Nationals. Let me know.

Eigertek | Thanks Dieter, if that could be arranged, great. I intend to buy several Eclipses myself at nationals, and hopefully our division and the other local interested parties will have their answers and numbers to me before I leave on Saturday. Should they be unable to come to a decision before I leave, it would be nice to know that they were still available after nationals at the great $295.00 price.

Otherwise, I'll see what I can do for you.
Best of luck!
