Array TV: Ha! In England they just cancelled one of the long running programs (can't remember the name) that would cover it every now and then - the presenter got into trouble by saying fencing was boring... I think Eurovision covers some of the big events like World Championships. fencingchannel is a good source of current video and WCSN.COM says they're going to cover Turin in Sept (although they fibbed about covering Jr's in Korea). There is also fencingfootage.com . CSTV over here in the US is supposed to cover collegiate fencing, but I haven't remembered to look it up @ the right time... (like when there are actual collegiate meets and stuff).
Good luck! -
I think Eurosport does the World Championships. It depends on the event and where you are, of course. Do you have Sky (or some other Satellite service) or all Terrestial? -

Array Thanks! I am in UK, have Sky. Must find. More fencing. I hated every minute of training, but I said, ''Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.'' - Muhammad Ali -

There was a Korean TV company that showed up for the first day, then packed up and left for most of the rest of the Championships in some dispute over the terms of their contract.
This was the group providing the live feed to the venue jumbotron and the video dubs. They didn't come back until the very end of the event. So if WCSN was counting on taking a feed from them, WCSN was largely out of luck. Array That'd make sense. I sent some mean e-mails at the time, ranting about how the customer service people didn't even know what was posted on the website and why couldn't they get it together, rant, huff and bluster, but never heard back. I was so excited about the Leipzig coverage that I was really diappointed , but if that's what happened, I could see how that pooch got pregnant (in a manner of speaking). -

Array Mr Fish. You could have asked us on the UK board ...
However the simple answer is you cannot easily get fencing, on the TV, in the uk.
If you have a Sky dish you can pick up Eurosport proper (needs dish alignment as I don't think that sky's satellites still carry proper Eurosport). You can also keep an eye out on Rai and very occasionally there are programs on some of the German or French channels. Ideally you should get a motorised dish, or dual LNB setup. Last I checked (last year) the analogue channels are STILL available if you have an old analogue receiver and LNB.
Fat chance on Cable sorry. www.fenicngchannel.tv is your best bet - and I highly recommend it.
Chefencer you are thinking about Grandstand - which is still going and shouldn't be confused with TotP (which is a pop show). You are thinking about Des Lynam.
Transworld Sport (see Channel 4) occasionally carries a little fencing but you would have to watch it religiously. And that means exsposing yourself to the so-called alternative sports.
The BBC are covering the Kiddie Games in September. There will be fencing in that.
Any more questions?
PS: I have sat in the pub and watched fencing on the pub screen. Once just because it was on Eurosport [and the pub were willing to let me watch it - the football crowd were surprisingly ok] and the other because I was showing the World's on the pubs DVD player. So maybe you need a Gav in your area as well.
PPS: WCSN does not officially support the UK. If you know what you are doing ...

Well, maybe it was 'UK Bandstand and 'Top of the Piste'...I get all those BBC thingys so confused. You could see how I might get Grandstand and Top of the Pops mixed up - they're so similar! (I mean, they all speak with that funny Accent, ya know?) So is Des going to present on TotP? Originally Posted by Gav So maybe you need a Gav in your area as well. Array What we need here in the states is to get a fencer that works at ESPN in some programing capacity. That is how most of the stuff there gets on ESPN/ESPN2.
It's also how championship week got started. A Lehigh (or lafeyette? some patriot league school) alum wanted their schools bball team to be shown on ESPN so he came up with the concept
Anybody want to work in Bristol? -

ESPN doesn't even show NHL hockey, so good luck with that. Whatever doesn't kill you, is gonna leave a scar...

Array Want fencing on TV? Attract it thru the net. Get a camera and start recording (your fencing) Post it...blog it...boast...describe...swager...! Fencing vidio, music vidio...what's the difference? Inspire and entertain...as long as it's free.
"Build it and they will come." Sorry, but you can't believe anything I say. I always lie. In fact, I'm lying now.
"Pleased to meet you, hope you guess my name,..."
Oh, yes, BTW..."non iligitimi carborundum", look what happened to me. -

Just in case someone doesn't pick up on that. -

Anybody want to work in Bristol? I also understand that one of the reasons for the uptick in ESPN World Cup coverage this time around was the fact that the VP for programming is a Hotspur fan...
