I'm going to have nightmares for life
I see the good times etched in your face. I see the good times, that were once in place. I see the bad times, lurking in your eyes. I see the bad times, through the shadows and lies. The mask you put on is easy to see. The mask you put on, is no match for me.

Thanks for the video. I've despised Scientology(which has nothing to do with science) and its advocates for years .

Argh I'm scared of creepy videos; can't someone just explain what happened? (I quit at the bit where it said "WARNING: GRAPHIC STUFF THAT WILL SCARE THE FISH")

It was just like "this person was a scientologist and died because they didn't get medical treatment" which is obvious, then they showed pictures of the dead people while creepy music played.

Really, just a dumb movie with little interesting or new information. Some of the conspiracy papers were interesting, but the deaths were mostly obvious. Of course, if you have a religion that does not allow medical treatment, some people will die from lack of medical treatment. I'm surprised they didn't have more than six or so cases.

OK, I'm going to do something not many people will do, and stand up for scientology. Not because I'm a scientologist (quite the contrary), but because I know people who's lives have been changed and bettered through scientology. I think scientology is like any other religion. It's based on many similar basic values that other religions share and bettering ones self. My experiences with scientology have only been positive. Excepting Tom Cruise, he kinda pissed me off. But hey, that's just cause I believe differently.

I'm not much for creepy videos either so I didn't watch.

Scientology is not like any other religion because it is not a religion. I'm not a very religious person, but I am offended as a Catholic when an ideology started by a science fiction writer based on stuff he pulled out of his ass is built up to be an equivalent. Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, etc. All those religion have some historical base on events that are supposed to have happened. If Scientology improves someone's life, great, but please do not demean the other real religions by putting them on its level.

Depends on your definition of religion, because the dictionary definition is this:
    1. Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.
    2. A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.
    2. The life or condition of a person in a religious order.
    3. A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.
    4. A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.

You need to get off your high horse. If scientology has caused you any hurt, that's fine, but saying that any religions have to be based on "historical" (?) fact is a ridiculous argument.

It's not a high horse, it's a pretty standardized view actually. By your standards the cultists who drank the poison kool-aid to send their souls to the spaceship following haley's comet were the equivalent to someone taking communion because they believe it's the body and blood of Christ. Also by your standards I could make up a religion...let's call it Fossiliantism, which worships magnetism...and have it be valid. Learn to think.

If a critical mass of people were to believe in Fossilliantism and chose to live according to its creed then yes, it would be a religion.

religions arent religions because of their historicity. Religions are religions because people believe in them. History fills them out like a suit.

There is no difference between cult and religion. They are essentially synonymous. Cult has a negative connotation while 'religion' generally doesn't, except to 'born-againers'. Yet both are used to describe a firm set of beliefs people choose to live by.

Scientology cannot be compared to Catholicism in the sense that Catholicism has overwhelming size, age, and history behind it. Doesn't mean that both aren't religions.

Scientology has done a world of good for many people. That can't be helped. After all, he stole from the worlds' best religions including Buddhism, Daoism and Christianity. That its practitioners have done a world of hurt to a great many people as a result of the zealotry of its past and present hierarchy is also inescapable. In THAT respect Scientology MAY DESERVE being compared to Christianity, Buddhism, Daoism, and Animism, all of which had sects guilty of many atrocities.

LRH was a crony of Aleister Crowley just so all y'all know. Necronomicon, etc.

There are many court documents describing how the top brass of Scientology used what, unbeknownst to many, are Buddhist and Daoist martial techniques to torture its followers into submission. For example, I read that one ex-follower was made to walk a circle with arms outstretched towards a pole in the center for hours on end. Circle walking is a Daoist technique for meditation and martial use.

If anything Scientology is really the filled out suit of Humanism, a philosophy championed be Teilhard de Chardin. "S" can be a powerful tool to make yourself 'better' in the 'ways of the world'.
Ever wonder what the true meaning of the "S"/double triangle is? LRH knew the power of mixed, twisted and embedded symbology. He stole that too.

    Learn to think indeed.

    Minor in Religious Studies

    Hmm,

If anyone wants to know anything just ask me. Bwahahahaha

Actually Scientology is something of a pet hobby of mine. I've read everything they've published or nearly. I never bought any of it; usually thru libraries and visits to Scientology "churches" where I'd speed read thru a book a day.

Their 'Bridge to Scientology' is actually a Zen Buddhist/ Japanese ranking system. We know it commonly as the Dan system in Karate. Clear is Blackbelt. Below are the kyu/gup grades, above are the Operating Thetan or Dan Grades.

Even their 'Purification Rundown' which is sheer cult brilliance btw, is commonly used in Asia as a means of getting into the persons mind by breaking down their physical defenses under the guise of releasing toxins and dormant drugs in fat cells. While its true that it is very good for you, it's merely a pleasant by-product. If they can get you to do physically, they can get you to believe mentally. We've all heard of boot camp haven't we? Its not to get you into shape for defending our nation...its to indoctrinate you into the school of the Alpha Male.

I was at a Scientology "New Year's Bash" once in the early 90's as a part of my research. I remember as clear as day their Chairman, David Miscavige saying to the crowd.... "Because of LRH's 'tech', YOU don't have to go to Heaven if you don't want to."

Satanism has a humanist arm of thinking. Not that Humanism is bad, its merely self-betterment. Everyone uses it. Scientology is the slippery slope of it though. Using truth in a greater scheme of lie is a masterful approach to converting someone to evil.

Actually the ornate "S" symbol they use is rather frightening to me. Kind of creepy. In one of their books, LRH talks about how they are ultimately against Christianity and at the highest echelons, worship some homemade demon whose name is quite forgettable. But this is not something you hear at first you know. They claim a certain compatibility with Christianity until you get on the slope.

Finally, I submit to you something I'm sure you've all noticed. Their eyes. They never blink and they are always staring at you. Its like their eyes are pouring out energy. In internal arts we call that 'leaking qi'. In their case they are hemorhaging it! Actually they practice this skill of staring people down. It's called 'confront'. Tom Cruise does it. In fact if you look at his close ups in the movies they make a huge deal about his eyes. Tom uses his movies as Scientology paraphernalia, subrosa of course.

I could talk about this all day, but nah.
