Here's a nice little story to back it up: http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/4102992.htm
On the other hand, anyone got an example of an Air Marshall saving the world from terrorists? Thought not. |
My former boyfried, a sky marshall named eric did a very good job, i wouldn't want to stand in his way, back then, he's retired now and kayaks to keep in condition, but during his prime, he could've stopped a skyjacking. by the way, the passengers who tackled the men who were trying to take a plane weren't even trained, but they did a very good job, if they had training, it wouldve been better, it really would've saved the world, believe it or not....
I read the article as submitted by Peach. Here's my take on this. Without sky marshalls you run the risk of having everyone get bombed, with skymarshalls you run the risk of embarrassing a few people. Now, I've been 'profiled' in the past, I find it interesting. Some people have thought that I'm: 1. middle eastern 2. black 3. indian 4. mob 5. a hooker. It's interesting and infuriating. It's my hair. If it were short, and 'american business woman' and if i wore a 'american business woman' suit, no one would stop me, but i refuse to let anyone dictate my appearance to me. My skin is very dark and i get profiled all the time. But, nice people [like me] will understand that there is a lot of fear on the part of the public and allow the state or whatever to moderate the flow of traffic. The problem was and will always be: training PROFESSIONALS to do security work. The danger is their becoming over enthusiastic. This is when we yell "police state" and thats when the 20 year old white guys get scared and grow beards and get dirty to show everyone that they're 'just like everyone else' [meaning the dirty masses], which is an insult in itself, so i believe one should just hop in the shower, do your profiling and keep checking our bags.
