| Why isn't Zagunis competing?

| My question is why are Becca and Sada? The recent schedule has been grueling and I wouldn't think they need the points. Or do they?

| The senior women's team is pretty well set...a repeat of last year's quad of Jacobson, Zagunis, Ward and Thompson.
Zagunis is likely resting, Jacobson is just getting back into her groove after a mid-season rough spot--and may want more practice--Ward is helping with younger kids from OFA, and just likes Summer Nats. Not sure for Caity, probably just extra competition leading up to preps for Senior Worlds.
And, this is the first points-accruing event fior the 2006-2007 Cadet/Junior/Senior team race...so why not go?

| Maybe they just enjoy fencing. Geez, not everyone spends all their time carefully calculating their points and deciding whether or not they "have to" fence in a particular competition, as though it's just a distasteful chore to be avoided whenever possible...

| Maybe they want to give their team the best possible seeding. |

If you have the privilege of flying around the world to fence elite competitions, you might want a rest every now and then. Perhaps a weekend with the family?

As a matter of fact I think Mariel will be there hanging out if she's not competing. Summer NATs is the only chance a lot of circuit fencers have to spend more than 2 days at a time certain with friends.

| Believe me, World accomplishments are much more satisfying than the national championship.

| Summer Nationals is a great competition. It is like a giant reunion.
Most fencers now in their teens have been seeing their friends summer after summer for years.
I like Summer nats. It is great for fencers of all ages to see and talk to everyone else, well people of all ages too.
An international competition can't compare to Atlanta.
Everyone mostly speaks the language.
The food is identifiable.
There is air conditioning.
It is really fun to watch the little kids and future Champions fence.
The Leon Paul guys are going to be there.
The only bad thing is it is Coke Country and not Pepsi Country. Can't have everything.
Some of them really like to fence too. Gads I agree with Inquartata.

| We need to have Summer Nationals in Dr Pepper Country...
(On my way to the Crown of Texas Open, I stopped at a little cafe in Mason, TX which didn't sell Coke or Pepsi products, only Dr. Pepper (plus RC Cola and other small brands). |

| One of the best things about the south is that coke is the dominant beverage.

| Missing Polls Fencing .Net is missing 5 other polls, WF, WE, MS, MF and ME. USFA SNC is not just about these 5 or 6 girls above. |

| Army Fencer, who started the thread, is an epeeist--it was gracious of him (or something ) to even contemplate WS. Why not start your own poll?
