| Best grip for HUGE Hands We've got a primarily recreational fencer at our club who's about the size of a grizzly bear and has commensurately huge hands. He's moving away from using a french grip, but his hands are just too damned big for any pistol grips we've shown him. I showed him the medium LP viscontis on my foils and the large ones on my epees, and the latter were too small. He liked the belgian we showed him, but again, a bit too small.
Any ideas? |

| I have long fingers, but not that big palms. I use XL viscontis, Zivcovick(my favorite), and Russians(so-so). I would look into the Zivcovick line of grips. They fit my oddly shaped hand pretty well.

| I agree that the old Zivkovik grips were good for folks with large hands, but their new improved grips are a significant move in the wrong direction. For instance, look at this grip. http://www.zivkovic.com/item.jsp?web_id=402
It's good for people with large hands, but the new "channels" for the fingers make it feel like holding a saw rather than giving extra traction. I have pretty massive callouses on my fingers from holding other grips, but they were no match for this puppy.

| they do make huge pistol grips, but make sure he isn't using too large of one. i'm a pretty tall guy with large-ish hands, but mine pretty well on small/medium grips.
or he could go with the LP tennis racket french grip |

| We have a guy at our club whose hand is so huge it completely envelopes your hand when you shake. This guy uses a Zivkovic B grip, and loves it. |

Barry | Barry,
I see no such changes evident on the website, just S,M,L as always.
On another note, I recently purchased some more of the large Ultra Grip viscontis for myself, but I have to say I don't care for any of the changes made to them. You already had it 100% right.
Edit: Okay; I see it on the LPUK website, but not yet the LPUSA website.

| I have pretty huge hands, and I like the uhlmann large german grips. They're not big at all, which takes getting used to, but they give good control.

I have to agree with you on this one.
Oddly enough, I have seen this problem once before. Had this guy that was at least 6'7" and built like a bear. His hands were more like bear paws than hands.
I ordered one of LP's: Lightweight Carbon Fibre Full length handle(Reference 140) see at: http://www.leonpaulusa.com/fencing/a...e_Handles.html
First item on the web site.
This grip felt a little funny to me at first, yet when I saw his smiling face when he grabed it from me, it was well worth it. The guy no longer fences, yet will never forget that grip in his hand.
