| If you are fencing in more than one event, you can only take the survey once and indicate that you are "representing" the event that you are fencing in that day.
Hopefully I will have the results published in an article for a peer reviewed research journal. That would be sweet! Fencing would get more attention in the sport psychology world, that's for sure!

| With all the things to be done before the start of an event, I hope the surveys will be short. People will probably prioritize weapons check, lessons, warming up and so forth higher than filling out a survey, and spare time can be a commodity in short supply at times...
Of course, this DOES target epeeists, so maybe not.

| I've been fencing for eleven plus years and I've been to many national events, so of course I thought of that. The survey should take 15 minutes tops, and events usually start 45 to over an hour after the end of registration. It should not impede and anyone's warm up routine. Thanks for your concern. Quote: |

So you won't need my survey

So you won't need my survey | I'm glad you have your routine taken care of. However, events at nat'ls usually start more than an hour after the end of registration. That's well over an hour to get ready.
My survey is not just about the fear of losing. You may be interested in the other variables that i am trying to measure. I would also like to collect data on fencers who do not fear failure. I'm trying to find out the difference between those who do and those who don't.
Besides, failing doesn't necessarily mean losing. Do you agree?

| Yeah, I agree that asking people to fill these things out early in the morning before competing is going to lose you a lot of potential survey participants, as with a 9am start time or whatever ridiculously early start time they've choosen again, people will be scrambling to warm up, take care of equipment and attending to other pertinent stuff, butttt, I'm sure you've already considered that!

| Yes I have thought of that. The surveys don't take long to fill out. The ENTIRE POINT of my thesis is to capture behavior RIGHT before you compete. THAT is why I am being so peticular. Not because I want to make things more difficult for people. Quite the opposite.

Another plus- I'm giving away FREE WATER and snacks for filling out the surveys.

| The surveys take five minutes to complete. Plus, I thought it was kind of interesting to focus on what I was thinking/feeling before a competition....Of course, I fenced worse than ever yesterday...but I don't think it had anything to do with the survey. Thanks for the water. |
