Just put your name on your back leg.

Just get your name on your back leg and you can fence anything you want....
$20 bucks is cheaper than a lame + $20

| In the continuing attempt to encourage thread drift:
Has anyone looked at socks as an "Identity Item" for a club? It seems to me that a patch is nice but socks really stand out. They really are inexpensive, people can choose to wear their colors or not and they are a really easy to build a sense of community in a club. Just a thought but I am surprised more clubs don't have custom colors like the universities and colleges do.
RAC
PS: They are a great trading item for those national/international events. Heck why not Fencing.net colors!
PPS: I do understand that folks do this I am advocating that more do so.

For my club, its especially important. Since its a sabre club, putting a patch on the rear arm doesn't quite work. Yes, I know we could put it on the rear leg, but, then when we were talking about that option, the idea of socks came up. We embraced that quite wholeheartedly, and went to a fencing socks vendor to get them to make some up with our club name on it.
Of course we also have a patch too, that many put on the rear leg. But the socks are our primary form of "team identifier."

| Here is a link to our club photographs: you can see our socks! http://www.studentorg.umd.edu/fc/frames/index.html
They are two colored on each sock and four different colors total (all of our school colors!). It makes it very easy to pick out where all of your teamates are when you are in a large gym, even with over 100 fencers in a room I can still pick out the UMD fencers from several basketball courts away
Also our socks have been featured on ESPN.com |

| Thanks, Melihop.
Inq, when there are a bunch of freshman novices, for example, they can be rather hard to tell apart. Yes, height, body type, etc. help, but if I see a tall boy with curly hair and he's wearing red socks, I know that he's not my teammate, because he wears white socks. It's just another tag for identification. Even if the person is facing me, that's not always a help, since my eyes aren't so good that I can completely trust them to identify one person over another in a crowded, not-so-brightly-lit gym. I tend to have trouble recognising people anyway, so socks can be a great help. |

Fencers from my club normally wear purple socks when competing. I think that all of our fencers were wearing purple socks during Nationals, and none of them were carded (at least, not on the days that I was fencing or watching). |

| I wore my F.F.F. (Federation Francaise de Football) socks, which have F.F.F. printed on the back, adidas logos, and red and blue stripes at the top and was ok.
