    I'M FREE!!!

Let's party! I'm OUT of my horrid contract with my equally horrid publisher. Bring on the dancing boys, Mary the Moon is a free woman!

While supplies last: autographed first editions of Secrets of the Maiden.

this is an interesting development. what happened? you got mad at your publisher, they were only offering you a miserable 4% - what's the scoop.

Well, it appears that my posts on a message board for authors of my publisher were noticed by employees of the publishing firm. I did not say anything inflammatory, yet in their true fashion (BAD company to deal with) they started making nasty remarks about myself & my book, then let me go, stating I didn't fulfill the contract (yet another lie...I did everything they wanted).
    So, I've been released.

The books are $20, which includes the price, the autograph, shipping & handling from me. Of course, they ARE rare collector's items now... :0)

Moon' why are you doing your own distribution? Didn't you publishers already arrange a distribution deal for you (or your agent)? I've obviously missed the start of this story.

In the nearish future I intend to start trying to get published. So any advice on how to avoid sharks would be appreciated.

    Gav,

The publisher is no longer printing my book. The rights were returned to me, contract broken, freedom given. I have several books left that I can sell from the first printing.

I'm currently working on the sequel to the first book, which I'm planning on getting REpublished with the first.

Its good that you're taking it so positive, I'd of looked at it in a totally negative setback to my publishing career kind of way. I guess it just goes to show how much more professional writers know about this sort of thing than the rest of us.

I take it positively because it is positive. I will not get into detail on this site, but it is a supreme blessing to be rid of them once & for all. I will say that because of this publisher, I could not get a booksigning, which greatly hindered my selling potential. The bookstores love the book...but my publisher (who shall remain nameless) would not co-operate. The publisher lied, cheated & otherwise did the most unprofessional things anyone could imagine. It doesn't take a seasoned writer to see that is no good in business.

I can now use all of the positive press I've received to find a reputable publisher who will be able to further my career in many more ways, including movie deals & (Zelda, pay attention!) foreign rights. If that is negative, so be it. May God shower me with THAT kind of "negativity."

Now, girls...where are those dancing boys?

Now, what was the name of this book? And is it available locally?

That was the problem. It wasn't available ANYwhere but the publisher's website, or Amazon.com. There's a whole big story about how books get placed in bookstores, but it comes down to this: they didn't want mine (or many others) because of the publisher.

The book's name is Secrets of the Maiden. I still have the first chapter up at Bitbooks.com/Stories_for_Teens if anyone is interested in checking it out.

That main character, Alex, is my kind of girl! I read the first chapter. I would buy this for my daughter.

I would think you would, seeing as you made her the main character...just like I like my main character best, Nękos Servaya.

Ok, so there is more to WHY I like Alexandra. Alex is me, in essence. You have to read the whole book to find out why, & to what level, though...'cause I'm not tellin'!
