Boy, are we all wrong with the results. Julien Pillet and Gourdain in the semis? At least they have to fence each other so we don't get an all-France finals (the all-Italy finals from '98 looked just awful). I'm guessing Pozdnaikov will win it. He's got the french by the balls.

I was surprised at how well Flessel-Colovic did coming from 18 or so to make top 2. Congrats to Maria Isaksson from Sweden, coming in from 114 seed to finish top 3. The Hungarians f**ked up big time. Nagy knocked out in the 16s, Minckza in the 32s.

The US were a non-factor, and that was to be expected. Maybe in three more years.

Hey, what's in the water in Japan? Those Japanese men's foilist are kicking some butt! Actually, from looking at the pools, it seemed unfair that some pools were fairly strong and some had a bunch of no-names.

Jed Dupree was stuck in a pool with Young-Ho Kim. But one of the Japanese foilist had no one in his pool (even himself, as I've not seen his name either).

    Hey Edew,
Speak for yourself, I am looking pretty good (with the exception of Ladies' Epee).
I called a 1-2 in Men's Foil and I got 1st and 3rd right with Ladies' Sabre. I also called the 2nd place finnisher but as 3rd.
So far not too bad (imho).
So far it seems 355 is way out front with 115 points: he scored big getting all 3 placings right in Ladies Sabre!!!
With myself 2nd with 75 points and damianp and veeco close behind on 65 each. (This assumes I understand the scoring).

Yep, it still is on. I'll have to go back through to confirm the points, or 355 can give me their count on it.

If you're a winner, PM me or I'll PM you by sometime next week.

    Cheers,
    Craig

Is it that difficult to score your selections?

    1. read wrong scores and tabulate score wrong
    2. write message in a degrading manner to others on how easy it is to score points
    3. redo own points and look like a fool

355, I think you should go through that exercise again, because it looks like you forgot to give yourself some points you rightfully deserve, like for example Men's foil individual and Women's sabre individual.

In Men's foil you picked Sanzo who won and you gave yourself only 5 points for that. However you gave yourself some points for Bissdorf and I don't think he was in the top 3.
Needless to say, the total you have for Men's foil is not 10 points but 20 points. 20 points for picking the first place winner, and that's it.

In Women's sabre, you gave yourself points for Anne-Lise Touya, but forgot points for Yemaeva and Bianco. That should be fixed... Also don't forget you got bonus points in that weapon for choosing all top 3 finishers.

I think there are also several places where you forgot other points or gave yourself points that you should not have gotten.

It's all self-scoring based on the honor system so whatever score you tabulated, it is accepted.

The result of our game turned out a bit boring. Okay, it sucked. Not too much to brag about with everyone totalling low compared to the highest possible score.

    Congratulations to everyone who participated.

I will try to make another "fantasy fencing" game.

Hey, if you won, PM me to get your free stuff.

Maybe I'll have time to go through the thread this weekend and calculate the points, etc. myself.

    Cheers,
    Craig
