Array Cool!! your videos have been awesome! That's it, I'm done with the discussion forums on F.net. It's had its uses, but the ideologues, ranters, and "experts" have drowned too many of the conversations. I'm changing my password to something random and never logging in again. -

Array fp getting ready for VEGAS Stay tuned tomorrow we will launch our VEGAS page.
We will bring you all results, pools, DEs etc.. Plus pictures and video.
We will make a great DVD with all women's saber: semifinals, individual finals, team final and medals ceremonies plus women's foil final. Who will be in the finals? Zagunis? Jacobson? Tan? Becca? Velikaia? Touya? Stay tuned to find out.
On the foil side maybe a classic final: Vezzali v. Gruchala? Last year Gruchala won VEGAS and Valentina was having her baby so this year maybe we will have the classic. Stay tuned to find out.
We will bring you the fencing.
Plus interviews. We are planing in interviewing as many fencers as we can.
So we are open for ideas or suggestions.
Do you have any question for Mariel Zagunis? for Sada? for Becca? or for Vezzali? or Gruchala?
Send us your questions info@fencingpictures.com or use the forum to express yourself.
Tomorrow we will show a full interview that we did with Sada Jacobson USA in March. Sada story is very interesting. She trains and fence with her dad, she is looking for a job that allows her to keep training for Bejing Olympics.
Stay tuned from tomorrow we will start bring you interviews and more. Join our newsletter to get the latest news.

How much trouble would it be to show more than the semi-finals on? It occurs to me that showing those bouts gives us only 4 examples of fencers, and 2 of them twice. If it were practical, perhaps grabbing some DE bouts between high level fencers who will probably go out in the 8 or something, to show more varied techniques. -

Array I like the sound of all of the program you've described. BTW, when will the DVD's from Madrid be available? That's it, I'm done with the discussion forums on F.net. It's had its uses, but the ideologues, ranters, and "experts" have drowned too many of the conversations. I'm changing my password to something random and never logging in again. -

She hasn't fenced outside of Europe at all this year, and was injured in Merseille ... I'd be shocked if she were there. If she is, she probably won't be at her best. -

edit: Also, it's Zagunis, not Zagunes. I wouldn't say anything if it were just on this thread, but the same mistake was made on the FP website as well.

Pools and Tableau of 64 are up! http://fencingchannel.tv/feature/2006wsusa/
(Iris Zimmerman is fencing!) (So is Vezzali, but she has a bye in the first round.)
USA Women's sabre is doing a very strong job. -
its 3:45 PST, any more results ?? Nothing more on the fencingpictures site since this am. -
It's 7:45 EST, just read the oneliner about Emily Cross beating Vezzali going into top 8, that's very interesting,...anything more? -

Array Let's see....Women's saber:
Little known Eileen Hassett of Oregon continued her giant killing in Vegas. She suprised Anna-lise Touya in the early rounds in VAncouver. Today, she stuns Vancouver silver medalist Kormilitsyna in the round of 64, 15-13. Hassett comes from a 3-8 deficit to beat Caroline Vloka of NJ in the round of 32, then finally falls to Mariel Zagunis in the round of 16.
Zagunis beats Perrus of France in the round of 8 to advance to tonight's finals.
Becca Ward, riding back to back SR WC wins in Klagenfurt and Vancouver, starts well, destroying Tan Xue of China in the round of 16, 15-6. Ward then comes up against 2nd ranked Touya in the round of 8 hoping to avenge her loss to French fencer from the WC in Orleans in February. Ward comes from behind in a barn-burner to knot the score at 14-14, but can't bring home the final attack, and loses a heartbreaker.
In the final four: Zagunis, Touya and Bianco of Italy...plus a fourth whose bout we missed. "Sometimes we, as coaches, get into that dictator mode where you just tell and you don't listen and you don't try to understand them." Tom Izzo, Mich. St.

Array More WS:
Mariel Zagunis wins the cowboy hat and the gold medal at the WS Grand Prix WC in Las Vegas!
Zagunis took revenge for teammate Becca Ward's loss to Touya of France, defeating Touya 15-12 in the semi finals.
In the other semi, Bianco of Italy outlasted Russia's FEdorkina 15-14 to make the gold medal bout.
In that bout, Zagunis runs out an early lead, then watches as Bianco finds her parry riposte switch to take a 14-13 lead. Zagunis fights back, tying the score at 14-all. At match point, Bianco takes another parry-riposte, but misses, and Zagunis' counter riposte wins the bout.
In women's foil, a dimunitive Korean fencer outlasts some Italian lady, and wins in sudden death with only a few ticks on the electronic timer. I think this was the Korean fencer who got booted off the Korean team for a while for having unauthorized cosmetic surgery. (If the surgery was intended to make her look like she is about 12 years old, it was a roaring success!)
OK...I was shooting a camera, not taking notes! Besides, after the third foil bout goes into overtime, one tends to glaze over a bit....
Team competitions tomorrow. Question on everone's lips (at least from those who are currently sitting at this computer)...how is Sada Jacobson? She fenced while very ill today, and lost her first DE bout. Is she recovered, and can she help the US team defend its 1st place finish from the Hanoi Grand Prix? It's June 18, almost 10 am EST, and fencingpictures has not updated its WF results. Didn't the event happen yesterday/last night? What a disappointment after all the promises above. Similar Threads -
