Grant, you're talking like a Braves "fan"...

and it's not just BECCA BECCA BECCA!

    It's also:
    MARIEL! MARIEL! MARIEL!
    SADA! SADA! SADA!

It's nice to see US fencing walking confidently into world cups. Makes reporting on the stuff more fun.

I know, but it's much harder to make a cohesive Brady Bunch reference using three different names. But yeah, all of them are incredible.

Speaking of braves, were you at the game last night?

And it is also Lacey Burt who fenced Sherraine McKay in Vancouver like a CAT. It was a beautiful bout to watch.

It was Emily Cross with her victory against Vassali in Las Vegas. That was a show of fencing skill that thrilled everyone around. Emily was so happy. Her mom was so proud and happy. It was a lovely moment to share with them.

It is Caity Thompson, the overlooked saber fencer who stepped in and fenced so well and solidly in the team competition. She was there and ready and did what she needed to do. Hopefully she will get more respect in the future.

It is all the fencers who travel all the time, live on the road and spend every cent they have on fencing.

You can only be in so many places and able to report what is going on. Some of the people on the board go to women's saber competitions. I thought we were encouraged to share what we know as soon as it happens.

The parents of the fencers know and see each other often. We share each other's thrills, usually hugging and jumping up and down. We share each other's losses with sympathy and understanding. When a fencer is sick everyone looks in their bag to see what they have to help. (only legal stuff of course.) We look after each other's kids. We know who we can trust and who we can't.

It is hard to have such a tiny part of fencing, the winning and losing and show the whole picture. It doesn't come across well in here.

    It sure does!

Please continue to share details about high level fencing and environment around it.
By doing so you are providing great service to up-coming hopefuls

I was standing ~25 feet away and had NO TROUBLE hearing the shriek. but after coming back from, what was it, 41-44 to win, did anyone expect any less?

    Congratulations!

Probably when you buy the DVD's (or watch them at club).

Wow...I must have had a bad case of herringitis (stunned by a series of sonic blasts as from a sperm or Orca whale) from the previous screaming.

Are you certain that the "victory shriek" frequency hasn't been lost to your hearing from overexposure?

    hmmmm..... (vibrating eyeballs)

you might be on to something...maybe I should spend some time filming operatic basso-profundo singers getting their backs waxed so as to be aurally assaulted in an entirely new frequency range...

Thanks for the post. I just have to say that anyone who can take out Vezzali earns a lot of points in my book. That's a bout I'd like to see just to watch the anti-Vezzali tactics used.
