| If the USFA doesn't start producing real time results from domestic tournaments, including World Cups, NACs and summer championships, I am going to start my own recall petition.

| Here is a link to an excellent article by Bill Ward (Becca's father) describing some of the team events: http://www.fencingchannel.tv/feature/2006wsusa/WST.htm
Good to see Caity Thompson came through for team USA in the crunch! What a team!! |

| And some of his questions were indeed answered.
Mariel is held out of the entire bout with the Russians, and Caity Thompson is pressed into service for all three rounds. Caity wins a round, comes close in the second, and loses a lead in the third.
Sada Jacobson shows why she's perennially at the top of the world rankings. Despite a vicious bout with stomach flu earlier in the week (thru the individual events on Saturday) on Sunday, she has the stamina to keep fencing hard and keep the US in the match.
The youngest team member, Becca Ward, is handed a tough challenge: down 38-40 and up against the Russian closer. Ward slips to 41-44, and it looks like the Russians will have their revenge for their World Championship loss in Leipzig last October.
Somehow, Ward refuses to give up, and fights back with a direct attack and a gutsy two parry to close the gap to 43-44. Another direct attack gets the score knotted at 44 and has the Russian coach close to apoplexy...he was looking for an attack in prep by the Russian fencer.
Match point, Becca pulls off a do or die parry going backwards, and the USA has the Grand Prix Gold Medal.
And some really stylin' black cowboy hats as parting gifts.

| Women's Foil Very exciting day for foil fencers. Emily Cross beat Vezzali 15 - 14 to make top 8. The final four had Trilini vs. Meuller with Trilili winning in overtime and Nan of S Korea vs. Salvatore, another of the Italian women, with Nan winning. Trilini came back from 2 - 7 in the final bout against Nan, but the Korean won in overtime. |

Everyone was screaming. The Russians were screaming. The team was squealing as they mobbed Becca after her last point. It was a stunning moment.
Becca fenced amazingly well. She fought for it and won.
Nuff said.

| Craig, you really should create a new forum section titled "Becca News".
All this redundant jibber jabber is subtracting from the forum.
Nice going tho.

The Momster | Of COURSE congratulations, but come on, Mo, LOOK at the picture It's just great--and makes my eardrums hurt to look at it (and I'm a bit deef! AND I yell when I fence).

| And I am of course so very well known for my love of screaming by fencers that I should have---oh, no, wait...

| An amazing photo!! Look at the scoring box, one lovely light. I'm thrilled for Becca (and the rest of the team. Seems to me they "won" last year, but the refs didn't quite agree)! I was really rooting for her to take her third win in a row. I'm stunned by the results (up on the FIE pages) at how very different things washed out from Vancouver. Wow. And the top three US finishers? From Oregon, natch. |

Nice going tho. | Silly women sabrists strutting about on the world stage, monopolizing valuable bandwidth. Maybe we could instead have a regularly updated "G'Day Grant" sticky where we learn about his exciting accomplishments on a daily basis.
And heaven forbid we not make enough space for more threads like: "Rules on Socks"! That's news you can use.
Seriously, big congrats to the US WS fencers who performed amazingly well under tough circumstances in Vegas.
And came home with some stylin' black cowboy hats, don't forget!

But loads of fun for the audience.

And came home with some stylin' black cowboy hats, don't forget! | For what its worth, I think its great that our WS fencers are doing spectacular at world cups.
However, after the umpteenth WC win, it gets a little old. Why don't you just make a list of WC's she is attending? Or, more like, gold medals she's signed up for.
Atleast tone it down.
