| I'm 28, & have been fencing at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, MI for what will be 8 years in February. I helped form what would later become the Schoolcraft College Fencing Club, & served as the first president. My only weapon is foil, but once a long time ago they talked me into fencing epee at a division tournament. My coach said that I could try sabre once I get back.
Where did I run into a fencer? The hospital. He was the doctor who performed my amniocentisis recently. It turns out he fenced for four years with Princeton.
At my high school reunion, the husband of a friend ran up to me & begged me for information about fencing. I think we're going to have one, if not two (his wife) new & very eager faces this next semester, Doug. I told him what a great place SC was for beginners. Now that we have Jim & the Maestro, it's even a great place for the more advanced fencers!

| Hello Matt
I am Tina, from Georgia. I fenced for about a month or two in the summer and had to break from learning all of a sudden. I play to resume at the start of next year and look forward to meeting everyone at a tourney.
I am female, 32 now, and very medieval minded. I am also pagan and have found that my use of wands and the use of swords kinda led me into fencing. Plus the ever want of a real joust...sigh, but I digress....

| Peir, Yup I was at the DH MAc. I was the Smuck who lost 13-14 in extra time in the 16 of womens foil. I was also the one yelling at the Womens sabre on the Monday wearing the bright blue jacket.

| Hey, Mac. Everybody else is calling you Matt, so I guess I'll call you Mac. I'm sixteen, used to live in North Dakota (Wow I miss that place), and I'm not telling where I live now, or my real name. Not paranoia, I'm just crazy like that. I have about three years' fencing behind me, but haven't crossed blades for the past six months. It's driving me mad. I also do a lot of running, and love the cold. And wow, this is starting to sound like a personal ad, so I'll quit here.

| As long as we're all introducing ourselves...
I'm an androgynous 537 year-old and I'm originally from beta reticuli. I now roam the sewer systems of major cities and occasionally frequent enormous undiscovered natural caverns as well. I started fencing three days after hatching because I was chosen to avenge the destruction of my homeworld at the hands of the Nebulons.
I'm a single, 12' 4" (when standing on my hindmost legs) non-smoking, easygoing life-form who likes animals and women who like the outdoors and who are attracted to creatures with no eyes. Please call if I sound like the one for you.
Welcome to fencing, Matt. Ditto the above; you'll know most of the fencers in your area after going to just a few tournaments. And though there are a few bad apples, fencers are mostly some of the best people--err, beings--you could hope to meet. |
