Cleaning A Lame

First off, this isn't a how do you clean a lame thread, I just wanted to share a few things with people.

This weekend was Georgia Games, Junior Mens Epee is going on now, should be there, but whatever. So anyway, Georgia Games rolled around, and I was slated to fence on a Mens Sabre team. My lame has been green around the collar area, and on the bib, and just overall bieng shotty. So since I had read something about cleaning with rust remover I decided to try it out. Next to the toilet in my house was a bottle of something called Sno Bol, some kind of toilet bowl cleaner. So I rinsed my lame alittle, and started to pour this stuff on. Anyway, the green rust started to bleed alittle, but it looked alittle better. Rinse off, all that. Then disaster struck. The chemical must contain acid, or something, because as soon as I turned off the water, every mosqiuto bite, scrape, and cut I recieved in the last two days erupted into fire. Just be careful!

So the end of the story is I took my lame, and helmet to the armour's table, and miracoulusly passed. The water hadn't come all the way out, and there was red rust as well, but both articles passed. The armourer told me he didn't beilive what he was seeing. And then I didn't even need it that day.

Anyway, I hope if anyone is going to clean their lames like I did, to wear big latex gloves and protect yourselves.
