| Omega Delta A little snippet I found in a newspaper from Sunday, 21 February 1926. The school in question was UT... E. P. McKinney of Nacogdoches and Trueman O'Quinn of Beaumont have been elected to membership in Omega Delta, honorary fencing fraternity, according to announcement of Melvin Williamson, president. The pledges were initiated Friday, and were forced to carry swords about the campus, challenging and fighting any other pledges they should meet on the campus. |

| One can only assume they weren't carrying around schlagers... although not out of the question considering the number of Texians of German descent down there. O'Brien and McKinney must've been from the County Donegal region of Bavaria... |

| Not sure what it was (if it ever was what it claimed to be in the first post) then but now it's a multicultural fraternity with its alpha chapter at UI-Urbana/Champagne. Evidently they enjoy poppin' their collars. http://omegadelta-alpha.com/

| I should bring it back, except I would get tazed by cops if I walked around UT with an epee in hand. I'll let Jesus (a sabreur who's kind of nuts) know about it, he might be crazy enough to do it!

| Since some folks have already spotted it (with appropriate remarks), I updated my site and now have pictures of two Omega Delta fencers in all their splendor. Scrolling down, they are the second and third photos from the top here: Campeche Steel: A Sport Evolves
Be kind. They were college students and it was the 1920s.
