balancing a foil

this is my first post, anyway. i looked for a similiar post but didn't see anything. so, how does one go about balancing their foil. i bought my first foil (just a $30 one) so it definately isn't that great, but i am not sure how to ensure that it is balanced properly. any advice would be appreciated.

Do you mean bend the tang?

Or something else?

If it's bending the tang, your best bet is to ask your coach.

But if you really want to do it, but the tang in a vise, making sure there is some space between the vise and the beginning of the blade. Then bend the blade a little bit so it points down and towards your non-weapon hand, imagining that you're fencing with it. Make sure you do it gradually. Bend it until it feels right for you.

Get in touch with Raul Toro at the Jacksonville Fencing Club. Good club, good coach.
