| Anyone has this rewiring problem... I am going to rewire my LP which is bought directly from LP USA. As I am dissembling it, when I reach the barrel, I found out it was impossible to unscrew the barrel(I used wrench, piler, vice).
I know LP people must put locktite in the thread of the barrel...
Anyone has similar problem before and knows how to solve it?
UPDATE: I now took off the wire and the block without unscrewing the barrel. You guys think I can just rewire it without unsrewing the barrel? |

| If it's impossible to get loose, think how many yellow cards you're saved from. |

| Technically the barrel and the blade can be one piece (m.20), which I find interesting. Anyway, just make sure the barrel is as cleaned out as possible and you can get the wire through you'll be fine. Just be sure to use LP wires. I seem to remember a post by a Paul brother were they mention how the put the barrel on. I'm not sure if they use loctite, but they do use a powerdrill to screw it on.
EDIT: Found it. Quote: |

| A second vote for "Heat" here.
Holding the blade in a vice, gently heat the barrel using a lighter. the metal of the barrel should expand, and you should also be softening the glue at the same time.
If that doesn't work, try soaking it in acetone (nail varnish remover is good if you can't get the pure chemical) to dissolve the glue.

| hmmmmm, heat...
actually if I would just do it without taking the barrel apart, that would be nice, let me just do it that way. beside I dont need to change the barrel either.
but holy ****, whatever method they use to tighten this barrel is just crazily good. |

| Why take the barrel off? Just thread the wire through. |

If you can get the insulator cup out of the barrel, arbe is correct. Yet understand the next time you have to rewire the blade, the barrel will still be stuck on the blade.
If you cannot get the insulator cup out and need to take the barrel off, get a small mini torch from your local home depot (about $6.00). Place the blade in a vise leaving about an inch from the bottom of the barrel to the vise. Heat up the bottom of the barrel for just a few seconds. This will loosen any super glue that sickeled up into the threads, or and super duper thread lock that just will not loosen. With the barrel still hot, use a 6mm open end wrench and loosen the barrel right off. You won't have a problem at this point.
Let me know if this works or not for you.
