This is one of the best satires of Sci-Fi I've ever seen in any form and lots of kick-ass special effects. Worth a download if you have the bandwidth.
For satires of Sci-Fi, I prefer Captain Phule.

Do y'all not understand the concept of Star Trek?
I see the good times etched in your face. I see the good times, that were once in place. I see the bad times, lurking in your eyes. I see the bad times, through the shadows and lies. The mask you put on is easy to see. The mask you put on, is no match for me.

Yeah, it's basically a Western in Space. (I forget the exact show it was modeled after, might have been Bonanza.) However, Firefly did that theme better, and BattleStar Galactica (21st century version) does the "Sci-Fi as spaceships and space combat" thing better. Trek tries, but it keeps strangling in techno-babble.

I was wondering when somebody would mention him. Personally I prefer Doc Lazarus.

But has anybody other than me noticed the villains in Galaxy Quest resemble the Xindi Reptilians in Enterprise?

Star Trek (TOS) was modelled after "Wagon Train". Deep Space Nine appeared to be modelled after "Gunsmoke".

Captain Spock. Only because he was my favorite character. He actually is too logical to make a good captain. A good captain needs human qualities.

I'm appalled at the relatively tiny amount of love shown for Sisko. How many other captains do you know who became gods? And he punched Q. That's as badass as any of Kirk's shirtless double axehandles to the back.
