Mall of America

Got this from another list... anyone confirm or deny this?

Chris (mall rat) Umbs
-------------------------------------
I was running through the Mall of America on my way
to work this afternoon and I discovered something. On
the 4th floor, where Fat Tuesday's used to be a
Fencing club is now located. They only opened in the
last day or so, and I didn't have time to stop and ask
about details, but I will see what I can find out.

As exciting as it sounds, it seems unlikely. Here's why: in order to secure a lease in a mall, you have to be a chain, with a solid balance sheet. Unless Alfred Taubman has changed the rules, or he doesn't own MOA anymore, that would be my edumacated guess.

Looking at the MOA website there's no indication of a fencing club. Looking at the list of tenants, no tenant has the words (strings actually) "fencing" or "sword" in its name. Fat Tuesday's is no longer listed in this list either (although Ruby Tuesday is). A general google search for "fencing mall of america" didn't come up with anything useful.

Clearly it IS possible to have a club in a mall. A (sort of) local club here was looking at mall spaces before they found their current site. As to being a chain, you mean like (MOA tenant) sleepyheads.com, right?
