| How many rep points do YOU give out? If you were to rep a post right now, how many points would you give out?
Noodle's FAQ ( Fencing.net FAQ v1.1 ) defines the algorithm as this:
Everyone has 1 base point
+1 for each 180 days you've been registered
+1 for each 500 posts you've made
+1 for each 100 points of rep you have.
My breakdown is like this:
1 - Base
12 - Join Date
2 - Post Count
10 - Rep Points
Total: 25
What's yours?

| 1- Base
8- Post Count
2- Join Date
109- Rep
So I guess I give 120 each time I rep.

| Bs=1
Pc=5
Jd=3
Rt=98
108
But in reality (I was just informed) I only give out 100
So maybe there is a cap, or the formula isn't 100% accurate.

For the sake of thread drift, heres a link to calculate the days you've been on. http://www.timeanddate.com/date/duration.html
In the year box for start date, type in like, "03" instead of "2003", and see what message it gives you. Its a wee bit funny.

| For what its worth, i'm inclined to believe that the key to gettting vast amounts of rep is to be a *****/dick (but not quite enough so that everyone hates you), and to make alot of sarcastic comments.
I'd have more rep if I was less of an asshole, but so it goes.

So 63.
Interestingly, I've been a member for 2,222 days now. Cool milestone that I would have missed without this thread. Also discovered a third person (in addition to Craig and Moonitc) who has been a member longer than I have (DJA -- beats me by a couple of weeks). Rather I obviously knew DJA, but I discovered that he predates me as a member.

| Brad,
Did you find an exact join date somewhere? I was just going by the month / year underneath the avatar.

I'd have more rep if I was less of an asshole, but so it goes. | Or a really nice person like.... ZZ, Fencergal 33, Needle, Go?, TRH, RIT, ParryThis, Jeeb, Late... to name a few people off the top of my head that are not sarcastic and have a lot more rep than you.
So yes... the second part of your analysis is correct.
Edit... based on this thread add OIUYT & Epeeisky to the list.

| Actually as G?F? and I figured out a while ago that formula is incorrect. If you get someone to check how many points you give out you will find out it's less than that formula says you should.

Oh and I award 68.916208625451455279371149352029 points per rep! Although as I said, that formula is wrong and I actually award fewer points than that.
One thing I did notice when asking around about this, people with smaller inputs are much closer to what the formula says...

(1+2+6+32) = 41
Catching up to Brad will be a trick. Must become wittier, taller, or maybe move to MA. |
