Behold the pink fuzzy!

Some blade socks that I saw at a recent tournament. They stretch over the PVC pipe people use for blade hard-covers.

The only thing about that picture that puzzles me is that the fuzzy pink blade covers are being used for foils... instead of epees, where they clearly belong.

Waste of money. If you really want a great looking cover, just go down to the 99 cent store and pick up a roll of electrical tape. They come in different colors, though I prefer black. And yes, I do realize that I have a crappy camera, and that my aunts have terrible tastes in tablecloths.

The question is does your blade feel like a very stretched out deformed anorexic daschund? The answer is probably no.

Why even have a cover for the PVC pipe? I just painted my PVC pipe solid black. I didn't even use my own paint, took some from my neighbor on a whim.

You could do some kind of makeshift thing with a bolt of fabric too...

but to each his or her own.

Wow, good thing Craig is the business man here and not yall lol. The point is that soon like 95+% of the juniors will have this crap, most of them will have bought them from Craig, and he'll (hopefully) have his very own version of Scrooge's moneybin. As dumb as they are (and I won't even mess with this PVC pipe crap), people will buy them, parents will buy them as gifts for kids, and they'll sell, and they can't cost much to make. Great novelty/whim item.

Actually, those foils are from another member of the board. My current foil grips are yellow visconti-copies wrapped with worn down tip-tape for extra grip.

I'm actually getting around to rebuilding all of my foils since they have decayed and I haven't gotten around to switching out all of my broken foils.

A little bit of the cobbler having no shoes going on.

Craig

Craig,

I quoted JackOfHearts (who attached a picture of his foil, Italian grip and all...).

The grips in your images look acceptable to me.

I once met someone who had, dare I say, really beautiful covers for her weapons. Apparently her daughter would take pictures and clippings from books and such and make a little collage on the CPVC tubes, and then put some kind of shellac or something over it all. They looked to be very professionally done and were very cool.

If you want to cover your CPVC tubes with something, Contac paper works very well. I used a chrome-looking Contac paper when "pimping my case" (see other (old) thread). It comes in all kinds of patterns and colors.

It seems like I am the only one who just has bare PVC pipe with my name on it.

Posting things like this can only give people BAD ideas.
I predict it won't be too long before small roaming tribes of sabruers are using real animal fur they've caught themselves with rudimentary weapons, to adorn their PVC pipes with...
