Now this of course has to clear the FIE but the goal is to cut down of the kids having to replace their kinickers right away.

Considering what happened at the Jr./Cadet World, year 2 is a fantasy. Everyone had the same logo, just one was embroidered and one was painted on and that was a problem. Does anyone think, the FIE will allow 2 totally different logos? Misquoting a saying, " What part of identical don't you understand.

If and when they go to a new logo, it will be All.

Hey Don...Misquoting a saying back atcha.... what part of "from what I was told" ? is confusing Did I say it was official? Did I say it was law?

Heck I didnt even quote who told me....

I simply mentioned a purposed plan to handle the situation....I intentionally didnt mention who told me so it would have no other validity other than me saying it...

Sheeesh...we all know..if its to be known...you are the guy who knows it...and unless you know it...it aint known....

Take a deeep breath....remember I said it would have to get pass the FIE...and the the purpose was to keep kids form having to replace thier knickers right away... I never said it WOULD get past the FIE now did I?

If someone hands me a unopened message, I do not shoot the mesenger.

I'm an Air Force Brat and learned the things like following illegal orders is not an excuse. If I had posted the same message, I would have said the person who suggested it did not know anything about International fencing and why. Like you I would not give out the name to protect the guilty.

If I had reported what you reported, I wouldn't want to get someone hopes up where there was no hope. On the other hand, if there was any hope, I wouldn't want to dash anyones hope.

If RR suddenly dies and the FIE repudiates everything he has proposed, then there is hope.

I have stepped on a lot of toes, but where I feel that they are hurting fencers, then I will step very hard.

I believe Fencing is for Fencers, not for the FIE, USFA, referees, nor Armorers. I am usually blunt and I am sorry for that, but I probably would do it again. I feel that those who have been around for a while, would report like you did, but also make comments on the feasibility on what you are reporting.

Presuming the new logo is provided in embroidered form, and is big enough to cover a current painted one, there is no reason why it couldn't just be sewn on to all knickers currently needing it, right?

Well I was born on a Marine Corps base..and we learned this little thing called the definition of assume.

I respect the fact you step hard for fencers...just dont assume you can step on people and no-one is going to step back.

And don't assume because you weren't party to the conversation that whome ever I was talkign to was a idiot.

Do I think its feasible? Not really ESPECIALLY consider the FIE attitude at Korea....did the conversation take place prior to Korea ..yup...have I been told differently?? Nope...

Respectfully,

Rick

I do respect those who step back and have no problem with that. If I make a mistake, I hope someone will catch it and report it quickly. Supposedly, I am considered a Armory and rule book expert. So if I say something wrong, some might believe it, which is even more wrong.

I wish you had said it took place before Korea. Even before Korea, I know it would have been wrong, but also before Korea, I would have thought as long as the design was identical, it wouldn't have mattered if it was embroidered or painted on. I was wrong there.

Let me cover this in more detail to see if my idea works:

Consider fencers Amy, Billy, Courtney and David.

Amy has the current design painted on her knickers.
Billy has the current design embroidered as a patch on his knickers.
Courtney has the current design painted on, and has a patch of the current design on top of that, because she went to Korea.
David has just made the team and doesn't have any national colors yet.

Amy gets the new patch sewed on top of the current paint.
Billy has the current patch picked off, and the new patch sewn in its place.
Courtney has the current patch picked off, and the new patch sewn on top of the old paint.
David has the new patch sewn on.

This solution allows all fencers to wear a new US colors design without any expense except for the new patches, and some time with a sewing kit.
