    Triplette Rapiers

    Quick question...

Does anyone have any experiences with the Rapiers Triplette Competition Arms sells? Doug was kind enough to loan me one of his rapiers to go with my Renaissance Festival outfit, so I wanna get my own. Since the Trilette ones are fairly cheap (the swept-hilt one I am looking at goes for $145), it would make a nice addition to my X-Mas list. People always ask me what I want, so maybe some of them can pool the money together or something.

Doug already told me that Triplette's rapiers aren't the greatest, but I figured I'd see if anyone else has one or heard anything about them...

    Thanks,
    Marc

I am a former employ of Triplette Competition Arms. I worked Rapier baldes you are talking about come in different styles, Gold,Blue, and hite. I am pretty sure of this, but I may be wrong. To order or find out more you can call 1-336-835-7774. That is the store number. you can also visit the web site at www.triplette.com

If you're asking about the Mario Zamorano rapiers: I recently bought one of the dull practice blades for historical fencing practice and I have to say, it has a blance and handling that I really like, at least with the hilt assembly I've got. I haven't had the chance to use it in many practice bouts yet, but I'm guessing that it won't last nearly as long as Scotty or Del Tin practice blades; you get what you pay for.
If you're talking about the other practice weapons with the schlaeger and musketeer blades, I couldn't tell you too much from experience. Just remember that schlaeger blades are pretty floppy, and musketeer blades are lighter than true rapier blades. The advantage is you can fence a bit more agressively with less chance of injury using blades like that, though at the price of some of the realism.
If you're not planning on actually practicing with the weapon, though, go with whatever you like the looks of. How "good" the weapon is largely depends on what kinds of uses you actually plan to put it to...
