| Normal for breeches to be a bit restrictive at first? Hey guys,
Just got a new pair of FIE breeches the other day and noticed they seem to restrict my back leg when I lunge a bit. I tried a size smaller, it was way too small, tried a size bigger and I was swimming in it, so I'm pretty sure it's the right size. I bought them for the world cup coming up in Vancouver in a couple weeks, do you think they will stretch out a bit? I had my previous pair for like four years so I can't remember what they were like at first (they were also non FIE so I'm not used to the thickness) |

| In my experience its more a combination of they'll get a little looser, you'll get used to it, and they seem to loosen up a bit after you actually have started fencing/warming up for the day.

| I fenced in Allstar Athens knickers for a long time and hated them--I had to stretch in sweats, then put them on. Never particularly noticed any restriction while I was actually fencing though.
I've now got a pair of Startex knickers, and they are worth every penny I paid for them--very comfortable and stretchy.

MR | Very much seconded!
If you can afford a 'stretchy' kit then go for it, it really is worth the extra money.

| I hate "stretchy". But then if I had my way I'd still be fencing in cotton duck knickers.
The only problem I have had with my Uhlmann FIE knickers ( Athens, I think ) is that they were a bit difficult to pull up over my knee brace at first. They are still pretty tight around my legs, but they don't noticeably restrict my movement or anything. I think they are fine.

| I have LP Atlanta (equivalent to Athens I'd say, stretch panels) and they are great. However, they are a bit too big (I was on the edge of two sizes, couldn't try them on so I went with the safe option - stupid) and aren't restrictive at all, thus making this a useless post.
But the moral of the post: try before you buy, or just go for the smaller size.

But the moral of the post: try before you buy, or just go for the smaller size. | I have the same knickers and noticed that also. No real ambiguity on my size, the LP knickers are just cut a little big. I assume that is to allow for movement. Or else people with my waist size normally have much thicker legs.

They were awesome and well worth the money...now all I have to do is get the girl that I let borrow them to give them back
