| I got my AOL account back today! YAY! It's about time, too, with all the trouble that I had.
The best gift was to be able to spend Christmas (& the night before) with family & friends. We had a great time. This was the first year my son was really into opening gifts, so that made it more exciting (& tiring...whew!).
My three favorite gifts have to be my body pillow (not easy to sleep on my side anymore), Army of Darkness DVD (Hail to the king, baby!) & my Sims Hot Date game. As soon as I'm done online, I'm installing it.
It was a lot more fun seeing how happy other people were with what we gave them than what I actually got. Now the dreaded part begin: washing all the new (desperately needed) clothes!

| Scaramouche! Hey, Scara! I got your sword! She's so beautiful, I love it!
I'm just hoping Rayen doesn't start getting jealous...

| Well aside from the new shoes and new lame' that my wife "gave" me. My parents sent me a jacket, knickers and socks from the Soudet store in Paris (they were there on vacation several months ago)(and the FIRST fencing related gift they have given me in the 20 years I've been fencing! Guess I finally convinced them I may be serious about this sport). Actually, I was expecting a t-shirt, but was pleasently suprised. So, now with my birthday mask I am completely outfitted anew! Huzzah!
Oh, yes, and my wife gave me a lovely replacement watch for the one that was hit and sent to watch heaven when I was in Denver in November.
OBTW, I may be going to Tokyo in March for a couple of weeks. Anyone have contacts with the local fencing community there?
Merry Christmas to all.

| This was a pretty happy household this morning. We let us, the family, have the DVD player I bought for us yesterday, so that we knew it worked and that we had everything we needed to hook it up. The girls watched a joint present: Princess Diaries. Awesome! This morning, we got up, opened gifts, and started our ham in the oven for lunch. We were flipping through scenes on our other DVD's we got for Christmas (by the way, I gave my hubby Army of Darkness...LOL). We were listening to our new CD's too. We were watching TV (and I was reading the first of several books that I got), when our electricity went out at 10:30 this morning). I called the power company to be told that a hit and run driver had taken out a power line (in other words, knocked down the pole), and they had to replace it. They said it would take 4-6 hours to repair. My ham had 30 minutes left to cook! Thankfully, since the oven was shut, there was enough heat in there to finish it, although, I didn't get to glaze it. We ate ham and whatever else was around so that we didn't have to even think about opening the fridge or deep freeze. We then played games and read or napped. Finally, at 2pm, our power came back on. Whew! Thankfully, here in the part of CA we live in, it's chily, but not freezing cold. The house was fine since we had sweats on. We reheated and glazed the ham for supper and spent the evening watching movies on DVD. This was by far the strangest Christmas in my life and especially my marriage.

| I got my favorite Christmas gift on Christmas Eve... The family and another family went up to Winter Park, CO for a couple of days of skiing and boarding. I spent most of Sunday teaching our friends kids how to ski, then spent the rest of the of the day on green runs working with my 10 year old daughter on her snowboarding (2nd day boarding and already connecting turns...I was jealous!). Anyways, a rewarding day, but not very exciting.
That evening, my wife said I'd been such a good dad that day that I could go boarding by myself on Christmas Eve!! Wow, what a blast! My wife dropped me off at the base of Mary Jane (one of the mountains at Winter Park)and I spent the day trying out as many runs as I could. The tree glades were the best and I tumbled down some black runs that I had no business being on. No broken bones though, and the bumps and bruises have healed enough to fence sabre tonight.
Hmmm...I've noticed alot of similarities between sabrest and snowboarders.....

| I thought you had a season pass....bummer! It had snowed 6 inches Saturday night so there was still a little powder in the trees (good thing, needed the cushion). A couple of the main runs were icy, it was fun watching the yard sales until I tried a jump and caught my front edge...ouch. Gotta stop trying those.... they draw me in then chew me up.

| Well, no fencing gear for this X-Mas.
And none of the RPG books I wanted either.
Most of the things I got this year came from Best Buy, mostly because my wife wanted to get some NSync bobbleheads, which required a $25 purchase each. On the bright side, I got some accessories for my PS2 and the LotR soundtrack. With all this Nsync stuff in our room now, I am starting to worry about animal sacrifices and rituals going on. Most of the walls are already covered in posters. At least I still have my supercool Species II fake hologram poster to feast my eyes on.

Hehe. I must agree heartily! I am personally a skiboarder - I hunt snowboarders for fun when I get bored on the slopes.

| I forgot I did get something fencing related for Christmas. My sister gave me that great book, in hardcover, "Swords". It's an illustrated history of the weapon with lots of beautiful pictures and information. Many of you have seen it, and many others own it. I have looked for this book for about 6 years and have never found it. Couldn't order it because I didn't know the author or publisher. How excited was I when I opened that present? VERY! My sister couldn't believe how happy I was with the book! |

| Isn't it amazing that our own families don't get the fact that we are in love with this sport? When I did play golf (yes, those days whilst under the dark influences) every time I turned around, I was getting golf stuff! And I only played, maybe once a month! Go figure.

| For new year, I got myself the album "Painted Desert Serenade" by Joshua Kadison. I have loved the song "Jessie" since I first heard it on the radio when I was 11, but I only found out the artist a few months ago (9 years on). When I saw the album in HMV I couldn't resist, although I'm guessing 9 years is long enough to consider a purchase!
I also got the best new year I have ever had, with some of the most honest people and true friends I have ever known, despite only having met some of them 2 months ago, and some of them only a week ago!
(...and all this enjoyment despite the masochistic walks on boggy Dartmoor in the snow and blizzard and hail on the 29th/30th December)
Happy New Year, everyone

| Well, I had quite the happy Holiday. I spent it with my mom, dad, and grandparents, and get a second Christmas with my other Grandparents. It would have been a lot better if my brother were home for the Holidays, but I at least get to talk to him on the phone, and he's coming home soon. YAAAYY!!!!
I got 5-8 of the series I'm reading (Left Behind) I was very excited. I got lots of other nice, and cool stuff, but the best gift was being able to see my family, (or talk to them)and I was quite thankfull for them. I always have been, but ever since September I've been twice as greatfull! Happy New Year everyone!
