If she is going to be away for awhile, and you are worried about missing school, could the teachers maybe email her the assignment etc while she is away? Or even one of her friends in her classes emails her with the homework (reading and essays at least). I have also found teachers take it better if the student asks what work they will be missing.....but thats just my 2 cents worth.
