Array Practicing At Home How do you practice at home, if you do? What do you think are the most helpful routines? -
I just practice footwork. Seems like most of the kids out there today don't do this, or don't do it very well as most of the people out there have piss poor, sloppy footwork.
But yeahusually just little things now, advances, retreats and lunges, because my place is sort of small. Sometimes I'll try and hit a chair or my bed, although they aren't the best targets in the world. -

Array I do this russian thing my coach taught me where you go through every combination of footwork you can possibly think of (e.g. advance, advance lunge retreat, etc.). I don't do that with a weapon cause last time I did I busted a bunch of lights and jabbed a hole in the wall. I stab around at a hat hung on the wall sometimes, too. -
mostly just footwork and not as often as I should..... but I walk about 5 miles a day and sometimes that makes it hard to get going on the footwork. With luck and hard work I hope to only get better.. -

Array I used to practice at home like a fanatic. On the concrete floor in my poolhouse. Now my knees click. I've bin told to run and do other stuff like pushups, pullups, crunches, pistols etc at home, so I do the footwork stuff at fencing on the nice wooden floor. Not as much pain involved.... "I think this point is best point you will ever see... ahh look, I'm so good aren't I? Oh and here referee was wrong, opponent made attack first and I counterattacked but referee gave point to me, but that's life I guess. Ho ho ho..."

Array I do footwork every now and then, and I always do cardio and weight stuff at least a few times a week to keep in shape. Friends don't let friends fence foil. Fencing is all about hooking up and scoring. If you want to find out about fencers, go up behind one as he faces a practice target. Burst a balloon behind his back. The foilist will immediately lunge at the pad. The epeeist will stand his ground, immobile but alert. The sabreur will swing round and assault you. -

Array Well,
I try to do as much footwork as possible at home. I bike to work, so that is 6-15 km one way, and then I have started running at lunch.
Now just gotta bring the weight training into it. -
My usual morning routine includes light weight training (ankle and wrist weights and 15 lb hand bells), footwork (exercises vary), bladework on my target (which by the way isn't one of the nice ones, its a welcome mat with a heavy rubber backing stuck on the wall; its so big that if I miss I don't poke any holes. Wifey-poo likes that). After that (about 45 minutes), its onto Mr. Treadmill for another 40 minutes for cardio and endurance.
Then its time to take the kids to school. -

Array I do the usual footwork and target drills. Though I dont' have much room to hang tennis balls, so I use the wall outside and the basketball pole. -

Array i love practicing my footwork, i do just about half the routines listed on here (they rock and are well rounded) plus i always try to see how far i can jump lunge. we're going to have the tennis balls up soon in our club so that should be fun i hit them because i love them -

Array I used to practice at home. I don't now. I would like to, but time is my enemy. One test is worth a thousand opinions. Array I do different things at home depending on what I need to work on. If I need to practice cuts, I'll set up my mask in the garage for that. At the moment, I need to work on refining my guard position and some footwork, so I'll be doing that in front of the mirror.
I also do stretching and some yoga-type exercises. -

I barely had enough time to go to all the practices AND mangage a not failing grade in my 4 classes (2 of which I NEVER had to turn anything in). Now that its summer break though, I'm going to TRY to do some, but my latest excuse is "not while its over 85 degrees out" which is basically any part of the day from when I wake up until when I go back to sleep. -
