Yeah, I'm spoiled by fencing on the raised strips in Raleigh and Chapel Hill. A fencer from your club won the event last month in foil. He loved it and told us he would be back so apparently the floors worked well for him. I have fenced on better and I have fenced on far worse floors. "who do you think you are?"

Party on Wayne! Actually they will so I don't understand why other people don't do the same thing. I have watched and listened to people complain for decades about how our sport is a "niche" sport and not mainstream. If we don't make the investment and sacrifice how do we expect others (sponsors) too. FYI, cable access in Charlotte is $120 per half hours show. Morganton in free. Monroe in $30 and Gastonia is $20. Do you know how much it would be in your neck of the woods? "who do you think you are?"

1. A division officer is not acting in official capacity in another state's tournament unless it is Sectionals or something else I would imagine. (I.e. A New York officer doesn't have really any power in say, Kentucky.)
2. If any officer could supervise, then that might muddle up communication in some way.
It seems as though if you have to have an officer at your tournament, just keep it your own division's. RebelFencer's Awesome Quote of the Week:

Too bad, I was wondering how you would far against the Ziechmann's and O'Connor (before he goes to the Air Force Academy in a few weeks). As for the rest of the car pool, I'll leave that alone for now. "who do you think you are?"

Array One thing I did notice though at one of these tournaments I was at was that there were kids (couldn't have been older than 9) fencing in the open sabre competition. RebelFencer's Awesome Quote of the Week:

I don't like where all this is headed, "policing" sucks. A few bad apples have caused the whole bunch to be rotten.
How can 17 tournaments be invalidated? Why is everyone so tight lipped about this? Weren't the offending clubs notified?
Padawan, weren't you notifed about your tournament irregularities like the rest of the Division? -

Padawan, weren't you notifed about your tournament irregularities like the rest of the Division? My thoughts on this are that you aren't going to get much other than speculation on f.net. I wouldn't imagine that the N.C. officers want to go about airing their dirty laundry on a widely accessed public forum. You might be better off corresponding via email or asking them in person. This was corrected later in the season when we saw the threads on fencing.net on the subject. Our tournaments have been running Y12 events and people under 13 are not allowed to fence in the open events since that time. I don't know about the rest of the fencing in events hosted by others in NC. I have heard that some of the other tournaments may have continues this after the hearing at the USFA board, but I don't have access to that information. Actually, next season we are running a fencing little league for Y12 and Y10 fencers that we will non-usfa events seeing as they can't get rating anyways. "who do you think you are?"

However, if it becomes USFA policy to have a division office present at "sanctioned" events we will have to either:
1. Have one of our people run for office (getting elected should be easy with over 120 members).
2. Hold our tournaments without the sanctioning of the the USFA (in NC).
We really have better things to do with our time, like recruit people into the sport of fencing, train people to be competitive fencers, put fencing on television to make it a more mainstream sport. Granted these are our priorities, I don't know what other peoples priorities are. If you don't involve yourself in politics, you don't have any right to ***** when things don't go your way.
I truly think that you could do good things for the USFA if you wanted to. Based on the Ziechmanns, you can obviously coach. You are also able to pull in a large number of people with what I can only assume is highly effective advertising.
It seems as if you are simply trying to take the moral high ground by claiming that you are above participating in the politics of your division. Ich steige ab, Hab keine Zeit, Muss jetzt zu den anderen Pferden, Wollen auch geritten werden
