This is alway a nice local event. I hope a lot of fencers can make it. The entire HPF team always comes out! Open Foil and Epee are consistantly C level events. I encourage all my fencers here in Amarillo to attend this Amarillo event, for our local fencers it is a great learning expereince with a few excellent referees and some (not a lot) of self-refereeing.

This event is part of the Plains Texas Division Cup that is only for Plains Texas Members so all of the Plains Texas Clubs will be there. Our club attends but we do not have anything to do with the organization or running of this event. It is ran and organizied only by the Amarillo College Fencing Association.

The Amarillo College Fencing teams contact person is Chuck: chuck@acfencers.com if anyone has any questions about this event.

Matt,

Your link above to the results of the 2006 Amarillo Open takes you to the results of the 2005 Amarillo Open instead.

2007 Amarillo Open Fencing Tournament

Pre-registration is now available on Ask FRED for the 2007 Amarillo Open at

http://askfred.net/Events/Prereg/pre...nament_id=2315

My first post above has been edited and contains the same information that may be found on the "More Information" page of the tournament on Ask FRED at

http://askfred.net/Events/moreInfo.p...nament_id=2315

A list of those pre-registered on Ask FRED may be located at

http://askfred.net/Events/whoIsComin...nament_id=2315

We are going to do everything we can in the month before the tournament (within reason) to make sure that those who pre-register are actually planning to compete.

One of our biggest changes from past years is to replace Senior Women's Foil and Epee events with Junior Mixed Foil and Epee competitions. We have a growing group of Junior fencers in the Plains Texas Division and New Mexico Division and we thought they deserved more opportunities to fence; since our Women's events have been very small in past years.

You will also notice that we lowered the event fees in the Junior Events to $10 and the Youth events to $5. The Senior events remain at $15 per event.

As soon as we have confirmed our Bout Committee members and referees, we will announce them on Ask FRED and on this forum.

Actually, that sounds a little like an attorney (who IS a divorce lawyer) who fences in New Mexico who regularly attends our division tournaments. But I'll be sure to bring it up with our planning committee for 2008. I'm sure they will jump at the chance to make national news.
